Black holes will be canceled (racist, you know) long before they disappear.

So do evaporating black holes really destroy information, meaning unitarity is not a true principle of nature? No more so than a melting Ice Sculpture destroys information, or burning a book to ashes destroys information.
The Black Hole radiates particles as it shrinks. Those particles came from whatever mass the Black Hole previously absorbed.
Those particles are no longer in the same form as when they were absorbed, but I believe that the conservation of energy laws are not violated.

those of us who have read Le Petit Prince see an elephant inside a python I don't think I've ever heard anyone NOT call it "The Little Prince". This overly correct use of the original French title seems to sum up Cambridge, MA for me.

“There’s one quantum extremal surface that gives you the wrong answer — the Hawking answer. To correctly calculate the entropy, you have to pick the right one, and the right one is always the one with the smallest quantum-corrected area.”
I wish they explained why that’s the criterion for the right one.
To: Red Badger
Well, that made everything clear...
So, if a black hole is evaporating that is, it’s mass
is converting to energy and being radiated out, then
the gravitational forces should be shrinking?
Event horizon getting closer to the mass of the hole??
I think I’ll go back to my pudding cup.

and when they get cancelled, they are as good as dissappeared, in the minds of liberals who think that if they just throw a sheet over their heads, noone can see them

I don’t care about black hole paradoxes. The Universe works quite well, even if humans don’t understand it.

Well, that’s a start. It’s a good heuristic, not a law of nature. Keep the cork on the champagne for now.
To: Red Badger
IMO, mathematicians will eventually posit that the universe does not, or at the least cannot theoretically, exist. Well, at any rate, it’s long since time we stamped out entropy.

From what I read, Hawkings said that there was a black hole that eventually disappeared, dissolved.
Now they are saying that it doesn’t dissolve, it bends and
goes on.
Don’t even correct me. I have to go lay down. I thought way too hard.
