Sam Reider, a musician from San Francisco, got a call from the California Department of Public Health in June. Though fully vaccinated, Reider had recently tested positive for COVID-19 after teaching music at a summer camp. The health department asked him to take a second test at a local Kaiser Permanente.
Reider assumed it was because authorities wanted to find out whether he had a Delta infection. He, too, was curious - but when he got the test results back, he was surprised to learn that doctors couldn't give him any information about his variant.
"When I got the follow-up from Kaiser, they said it's positive, but they didn't have any of the sequencing information," Reider told Insider. That "felt odd to me," he said.
Several legal barriers prevented Reider and his doctors - as well as nearly all Americans who have tested positive for the coronavirus - from knowing which variant was to blame.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service (CMS), which oversees the regulatory process for US labs, requires genome-sequencing tests to be federally approved before their results can be disclosed to doctors or patients. These are the tests that pick up on variants, but right now, there's little incentive for the labs to do the work to validate those tests.
"I don't think there's a lot of motivation, quite honestly, to get that done," Kelly Wroblewki, director of infectious diseases at the Association of Public Health Laboratories, told Insider.

Everything about this “pandemic” is weird.
Without the genome test, any flu like positive response can be counted as Covid and thus inflate the numbers and push the narrative.

From my understanding they did not isolate the virus to develop the test.
I don’t know if they yet have an isolation of the virus genome from any variant.
This would be a huge red flag if it was me.
I understand that testing for the Delta variation is very expensive and that no one really knows how much or how little of it exists.
And the whole variant fear mongering would implode if this was allowed and people found out it was phony.
From whence comes this information?
They don’t have a test to identify COvid or Covid variants. It’s all a hoax.
Truckies were/still are threating to blockade the Queensland/New South Wales border in Australia, so Queensland (which closed the border that the police and Army are patrolling) needed an anti-truckie story to hopefully destroy any sympathy for such a blockade.
they got it with this rubbish, which was major FAKENEWS yesterday. it is only when this story got updated overnight Australia time that it turns out they had second test and were NEGATIVE.

Maybe there was never a covid-19; just the yearly flu until they started vaxxing people with a covid-19 variant.

Doesn’t sequencing the genomics of a cirus take a lot of time and money? I doubt anyone is getting tested for which variant. As with nearly all cases when i live it is “presumptive.”
This story is strange.
They report the case of an individual who went to Kaiser to get a COVID test, and then leap to a discussion of gene sequencing.
The writer implies, but does not state that this patient’s sample was isolated and sequenced and then makes the leap to claim that he’s being denied information about his own health. All of which would make sense if he just had the antigen test, which is pretty much the case universally.
Strange reporting.
I agree, I have read in multiple articles that the Virus was NEVER Isolated or Cultured, and the supposed “genome” sequence came from the CHiComs.
Personally I don’t believe a single word coming from any Government Employee or Official
