I’m in Upstate and old. I will have them delivered in the winter. In the meantime, I’m stocking up...just as I’ve done for 50 years. And just like my parents did before me.

I see them all the time at the local HEB stores here in Texas. Even before the scamdemic HEB always touted grocery delivery.
I have never received a grocery delivery and continue to buy groceries in person..
Actually, I’m good with pre-ordering from Walmart and picking it up. Anything that will keep me from having to walk around for an hour and staying outside of that crowded zoo works for me.
I don’t want anyone else doing my shopping for me, especially for fresh, whole foods like produce and meat.
I tried this once and got inferior trash cuts.

Amazon has also changed things. Could be that delivery-only local grocery stores will begin popping up, possibly run by Amazon.
Seems that the shipping and delivery process has become cheaper and speedier. Technology I suppose.

Grocery delivery is actually pretty old school. Besides it being common 100 years ago before cars were common, those of us who lived in a big city without a car sometimes made use of the service.
Back in the early ‘80s in college, in Chicago, I would go to Mr. G’s on S 53rd, buy my groceries, and walk home in the rain while the store delivered my good for $2/bag.

We tried that.
Too many substitutes (even cereal which is NOT fungible) and the fruit they select is not very good.
The store is close so no big deal.
I am still waiting Abbot to tell Dallas county to shove the mask “requirement” up their butt.
Or old people taking advantage of a “new” method of handling chores.
I used to hire a house cleaner, it might be cleaner around here if I did it again.

In the olden days they delivered milk (ask Kasich) and we had a potato chip company, Freihofer breads, cookies, they would deliver this stuff. Nowadays Schawans does frozen food delivery.

And some have exercised that option. Life and its habits/ways have

I can’t even get a pizza delivered at my house less 5 miles away
Haven’t used them yet, but a local beef producer i know now does subscriptions and weekly delivery for his fresh and frozen meat
