The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s rather confused masking advice is thinly supported by science. And by now, everyone who wants a COVID jab can get one. Yet elite shaming of ordinary people keeps ratcheting up. It’s, well, shameful.
Law professor Ann Althouse recently reproduced two memes she saw on Facebook. One read: “It took ‘click it or ticket’ to get people to wear a seatbelt. I wonder if ‘mask it or casket’ might work.” The other said: “It’s a face mask, not a Star of David or pink triangle, you whiny, privileged dolt. You’re not being shoved into a cattle car and taken to camp. You’re going to Walmart for twinkies and Diet Coke. Grow up.”
They’re both poor efforts at persuasion, of course: Generally, calling people names, threatening them and saying they’re stupid are ineffective ways of winning them over.
Yet we’re seeing more and more of this sort of thing. (And note the casual classism of invoking Walmart, Twinkies and Diet Coke. Poor white people aren’t, in fact, the least-vaccinated group — that would actually be blacks and Hispanics — but bashing working-class whites is considered perfectly decent, almost mandatory.)
Maybe the mask fanatics are just poor persuaders. But it seems just as likely that they are engaging in poor persuasion because they aren’t trying to persuade.
As with so much that goes on in today’s society, and especially on social media, this sort of thing isn’t aimed at convincing those who disagree, but rather at garnering high-fives from people who agree and, ultimately, creating an ideological veneer for unquestioned elite rule.

We’ve been living in a giant frigging Milgram Experiment for the last year and a half.
To put it simply:
-- Whether or not you contract covid has nothing to do with whether or not you wear a mask. Nothing.
AND
-- Carrying a mask in your pocket offers precisely the same level of protection from transmission of a respiratory virus as it does if you wear it on your face. That is, it offers NO protection.
True. That's still a few years down the road.
Coronavirus PING!
As fast as the sheep succumbed to the lockdowns, mandatory masking, and the clot shots, it won’t take a few years. Just another few months.
I remember “click it or ticket.”. People voted for the cops to only be able to ticket someone for not wearing a seatbelt IF and only if they had pulled you over for something else. After We The People voted to allow that the politicians later changed it to “if cop thinks you’re not wearing a seatbelt he (yes he) can pull you over just for that. Sneaky bastards.
bkmk
And when it was time to sew on that Star of David, had they known what was soon to come, they would have resisted early.
I am sure there were Germans that clucked their tongues at those hysterical Jews. Or maybe it was Turks in regards to the Armenians. How about the Cambodians that saw the Kmer Rogue as a quaint political movement when it began. Could of been Hutus that thought the Tutsis were just over-reacting. I dunno, the socialists/globalists are probably right, it's just an over-reaction on our part.
I was attacked by a “masker” for wearing a shirt that says Masks Don’t Work.
And they wonder why there has been an ammo and firearms shortage since Nov 2020 ...
Hubby and I were in our 1978 Chevy cargo van a couple years ago and got pulled over by a YOUNG cop who thought we weren’t wearing seat belts. Imagine his surprise upon seeing our LAP belts. No shoulder belts back in that day. He was NOT happy. Hubby had a hard time not laughing at him. HAHA!
I am banned from Best Buy for asking a teller if he realized masks don’t work and he refused to answer.
Yea ignorant group think! Stay unvaccinated and die.
That’s why I never wear one. If I can’t go into a store, well, that’s their loss.
Agree entirely. That’s what it is, seeing how obedient we will be, even if obedience means destroying the lives of our children, abandoning our grandparents, etc.
I guess they found out that we were just fine with it, so now comes Version 2.0.
A mask offers no protection from a virus, as everybody knows. Maybe a sneeze directly onto you, but most people try not to do that.
Washing your hands and not touching your face was, in any case, the best way to protect against the dread “droplet contamination” of items. And even in that case, viruses survive virtually no time at all outside of their hosts.
Bacteria is a whole different matter, but this is not a bacteria.
The French now have to wear a blue wristband with a government issued QR code that is to be scanned at the door if they want to visit the local cafe or store.
There are some restaurant owners in France saying that they simply will not comply and are not going to scan people or demand their “passports.”
I hope people here in the US are ready to do the same.
They’re all in a media-induced fear-coma at the moment.
