This year’s numbers include people watching online, so they added more viewers. The TV audience probably shrunk.

I remeber hearing that back in the 1970s, about 50 million people watched the All Star Game. It was one of the highlights of the baseball season. Now, far fewer watch it.
I know there are far more TV channels and entertainment options nowadays. Just an observation, I suspect even many baseball fans don’t care about the All Star Game anymore.

They should have reported that this years game had 8.24 million more viewers, than last years.

I didn’t watch but I heard that no one took a knee.
So they’ve got that going for them.

Exactly, the numbers are probably way down. Screw MLB.

The numbers I saw say 5 million viewers after numbers in the 17 - 20 range ipuntil the woke 2000s.
So it is at 1/4 of its height by any measure.

I would assume many fans were turned off a few years ago when the All-Star game ended in a tie, which doesn’t exist in baseball.

I watched five innings of the All Star game. It was rough. Positives: excellent pitching and amazing slugging. Negatives: Ugly uniforms (like Seattle Sea Hawks), ugly appearances of many players (long hair, tattoos, gold necklaces), and the huge fact that Atlanta deserved the game. Here is a photo from two clean cut and excellent players.

Quick! We need a lockdown and force people indoors to increase ratings at all costs.

This year there were probably at least 100,000 more bar/restaurants open that weren’t last year. Doesn’t translate to interested viewers...including me.

8 million viewers huh?
When England played Italy in the Euro 2020 soccer finals over the weekend, 27 million people in England watched it on TV.
And England has got a population of under 70 million

I missed it again!
I remember when the All-Star Game was a big deal. Then there were two of them; and it wasn’t such a big deal anymore.

I enjoyed the home run derby more than the game.
The uniforms were ridiculous. Looked like pajamas.

Never showed up on my TV.
