You'll be able to upgrade to Windows 11 for free if you're already a Windows 10 user. Use the PC Health Check app to check your devices now.
Windows 11 is on the way, and if you're already a Windows 10 user, it will be free to upgrade to Microsoft's newly redesigned operating system, the company said in a blog post after its virtual event on Thursday. (Find everything you need to know about Windows 11 here.) So long as your PC meets the minimum requirements, you'll be able to update to Windows 11 the same way you usually update Windows 10 -- once it starts rolling out during the 2021 holiday season and into 2022 (we don't have an exact date yet).
To see if your current Windows 10 PC is eligible for the free upgrade to Windows 11, visit Windows.com to download the PC Health Check app. (Here's a set of full instructions for how to use the PC Health Check app and what information it will tell you.) And if you buy a new PC between now and the general release, that computer will also be eligible for the free upgrade.

I’m still using windows 7.
and loving it. (/Maxwell Smart)
Ping.
LOL, I am loving it.
Someday it will fail and I’ll have to join the crowd.
I get told daily that my browser is out of date.
I’ve noticed that the websites that want my money all still allow me on. ;)
I’ve been on Linux five years now. Ain’t going back. Works great. Stable, no viruses. FREE
Never go with the first release of a version. 95a sucked, 95b better, 98 sucked, 98 2nd edition better and so on. Same with automobiles. Never go with the first two years of a complete redesign of a model or completely new model. You become a beta tester.
Running Win 7, I live w/out M$FT. Very comfortable life w/out updates that may make my computer unbootable.
If my HP printer dies I may be hard pressed to find another one with drivers for 7. But note the first word of that sentence.
Ping
Trojan horse.
Google will take over Microsoft thanks to this little comparability feature.
I cant remember the name of the one that was so horrible a few years ago...perhaps Windows 8?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The one I recall as being the worst was ‘Vista’...
Win 7 user here running the Brave browser. Never had that problem.
Thanks to Army Air Corps for the ping!
Thinkpad W530 here too and also dual boot. My win side is win 7 pro and is not allowed to update or connect to a network or internet. Runs like the day I installed it. Slower than Kubuntu. I had Mint KDE with the Plasma desktop but they ended it so I just swapped to Kubuntu. Less than 30 second startup and less than 5 second shut down. Had 8gb ram when I got it so I upgraded to 16gb.
Windows ME ? LOL
Other than for 1 or 2 programs that only run under Windows and I just run them in a VM (Windows running on top of my OS) I run Linux. It runs faster. It has no virus issues. Your data is your data. 80% or more of the web runs on Linux. MacOS/IOS are Linux (locked down with training wheels.) Any of your routers, fridges or any other internet connected stuff runs Linux. Take the leap. Install Linux Mint on that laptop. It is easiest for Windows users to adapt to with very little learning curve. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eI7QQqnV1P8
I’m still using IE11 that came on the machine.
Will Windows 11 be part of the Great Reset?
Same. All my modern computers run Linux. Only my work-provided computers run Windoze. Well, my wife has one; she tried Ubuntu, but it didn’t take.
That Thinkpad W530 is a solid piece of tech. Stil lruns well enough to get the job done, and more importantly, it’s easy to get under the hood for swap-outs and upgrades. I hate these new clamshell designs that require prying them apart with a special tool. Those things are designed by evil dwarves on crack.
I’m still using Vista 6. something windows.....LOL. Procrastinating switching to the new Apple laptop still sitting in it’s box!
Windows 11 internal code name: India Curb Turd
