On my last grocery store trip, I was distracted by the disturbingly large number of people still wearing masks and bought the wrong iced tea.
Instead of buying my beloved Arizona Green Tea with Honey, I bought their RX Stress Herbal Iced Tea.
I was skeptical to try it, but I didn't have any other iced tea to drink when I got home.
I am glad that I screwed up and got the wrong iced tea. Not only did it taste really good and healthy (although I am sure it is not nearly as healthy as it tastes), it actually did seem to promote tranquility without sleepiness.
Have you discovered a new product, service, or way of accomplishing something that you wish you had known about sooner?
I am a big fan of those DIY hack articles that show ways to convert Gatorade Bottles into snap top canisters etc. Nowadays most of the ground beef we freeze is flattened and sectioned into square patties INSIDE a Ziploc bag and then frozen for use.
I used to occasionally treat myself to a box of Original Vanilla Wafers, at around $4.29 a box. One trip when I wanted them, they were out, but they had the Kroger Brand Mini Wafers, so I growled and bought a box ($1.79, same weight and they haven’t gone up since). I liked them just as much, and liked the smaller cookie idea better, and they are much cheaper, triple win.
Same thing happened to me.
I went to the Gun Store to buy some Ammo and walked out with a Bullpup Semi Auto 12 Gauge and an M&P 9mm Shield Plus Smith & Wesson. It was a Father’s Day Combo Deal Special I couldn’t resist.
My Wife hates when that happens. I even had a specific Shopping List when I left the House.
I’ve been buying quite a few of Safeway’s house brand (”Signature”) products and they have been uniformly good. The savings can be substantial as you point out.
I am a fan of the Chicken of the Sea “Mediterranean Style” sardines (from Poland) and grabbed what I thought were two at the store. I usually wait for them to be on sale, but nothing ever is, any more.
Anyway, one I grabbed was “in Louisiana Hot Sauce“, instead. I tried it, rather than return it. It was quite good - and quite hot. I think I’ll mix it in there, every so often.
I couldn’t get any Mallomars so I decided to try some Dare Whippets.
People said they tasted similar to Mallomars.
People were wrong, dead wrong.
Now I have to wait until October to order my beloved Mallomars, the greatest Cookie ever produced on Planet Earth.
They make them in Canada now, just like my 2015 Dodge Challenger.
My wife bought me a Mister Coffee “ICED” TEA Maker. (Walmart).
Use whatever kind of tea you want in bags.
Fill the maker to below the fill level as the rest will just go onto your counter.
Fill (gallon?) pitcher with ice to the mark indicated (I add a little extra water to the pitcher).
Insert pitcher right up to maker, push on button.
A few minutes later (4 or 5?) VOILA! Iced Tea.
Now, I put a “splash” of “Nothing but Cranberry” juice (R.W. Knudsen) in a glass. I add a couple ounces of 100% apple juice (Great Value/Walmart) (to taste) and there you have it!
Faucetman’s Cranapple Iced Tea.
For next to nothing $ wise. No deposit, no return, no container waste.
Walmart has giant tea bags in the big box for bulk cheap. One bag per pitcher full.
Easy Peasy. Almost no sugar. (just from the apple juice as the cranberry juice is low in sugar and you only use a splash for color and flavor. Use too much cranberry, its way to tart.
Enjoy! (or not, I really don’t care)
In my case Murphy’s Law tends to hold the day. Just plain wrong stuff. Glad the tea worked out for you.
I screwed up a batch of bread once and didn’t want it to go to waste. I cut it into small cubes, dried it out and ran it through the food processor. It had the consistency of a crumb harder than panko. I mixed it with parmesan and seasonings and used it for a fried chicken coating. It helped make the best fried chicken ever. The breadcrumbs can stand the heat of the oil better than any of the others I used before. It has been a family favorite for over 16 years. It totally changed the way I make it.
“People said they tasted similar to Mallomars.
People were wrong, dead wrong.”
I am hip to this tale of woe from similar experiences.
Good to know. I go to Safeway every once a while to get a Sara Lee Pound Cake. City Market, in its ignorance of true decadence doesn’t carry them.
Now that is cool.
I purchased a must needed pack of Kleenex.........
Tell us more about the bullpup.
Oh me. I glanced at your headline and misread
Screwing in reverse
Boy did I do a double take. Now. Back to the article.
We shop at Kroger too. Have found that their brand of cheezits is remarkably similar to the name brand & much cheaper.
Great idea. Thanks.
Well played.
Turkish made. Most of them are.
Came with two five Round Magazines but you can get Ten Round Magazines as well.
Shoots 2 3/4” and 3” Rounds.
Got it and the Pistol for $850 plus Tax. Not a bad deal.
With all this talk about banning AR /AK Pistol Braces, I wouldn’t be surprised if they go after the Bullpups.
The Barrel Length is 20”, but the Action is behind the Trigger making it shorter than a standard AR-12 Semi Auto Shotgun. Bolsheviks don’t like short Shotguns you know.
