You may have had this happen to you already, but this scam is new to me.
My wife just got a call. It was a prerecorded machine advising her that her Amazon account was being charged for $700.00 and this call was to confirm. Press 1 now if this is incorrect.
She had the presence of mind to immediately hang up.
I get this call almost everyday. Yesterday, I got it from 8 different 855 numbers with the same message. The message starts before my greeting has ended so I’m not sure how the scam starts. Yesterday’s scam was different in that the numbers were all 855. Normally it’s area code 713 which is mine.
Yes it is. I sometimes ask “The Indian” how the test match is going. They love cricket in India.
I have alerts for spending/charging thresholds on all my accounts. And I request daily messages/emails on the current status of certain accounts. And 2FA on all accounts.
Last year same thing happened to me...
A call to Amazon fraud department verified the call as fraud and gave them all the details...
This is bad, but heard it used in the past, “No fetus can beat us!”
You mean I’m not alone????..........;)
This guy’s worth a look. He engages spammers via email.

“I miss the good ole days of “Is your refrigerator running?”.
Do you have Prince Albert in a can?
Yikes - at least in Florida the people doing the scams are scammers and not government and/or utility employees...
My wife buys stuff from Amazon. WE get these calls. I hang up right away.
I get a daily email from Norton thanking me for purchasing Anti virus from them.
I don’t even click on it.
Just keep an eye on the charge accounts.
(I don’t have Norton)
I get calls like that all the time.
Last time, I got one about how my 2015 Ford Fusion’s service contract had run out.
I have never owned a fusion, but, I answered the call by asking where it had run to.
She hung up immediately.
I called the last caller a raghead and to go F himself and his sister.. :P
I contacted my congress-critter a while back whose office replied that the House had passed something or other to stop these calls, but I have never seen or heard about a follow-up regarding the Senate or any federal communication agency doing anything about them.
If someone has further info, please reply....these calls are a BOMBARDMENT !
Leni
Reminds me of one that I saw (I think it was on LiveLeak) a few years ago... the call receiver accused the (Red Dot) Indian of shooting his dog... It gets hilarious.
I answer with,
You sound hot, what are you wearing, are you touching yourself, etc
ROFL
I set up different ringtones for my favorites, my general contact list, and everything else.
I can tell by the ring whether I want to answer it or not.
We’ve gotten the call several times. Quick check of Amazon account and bank shows it to be BS. How are people taken in by this?
We don’t answer the phone if we don’t know the number, so never worried about it.
