You may have had this happen to you already, but this scam is new to me.
My wife just got a call. It was a prerecorded machine advising her that her Amazon account was being charged for $700.00 and this call was to confirm. Press 1 now if this is incorrect.
She had the presence of mind to immediately hang up.
About a month and a half ago, I got an email from National Grid telling me that my service would be shut down, and I'd be fined, if I didn't provide access to the gas connections here. I called National Grid thinking this was a scam, but in reality, it was National Grid. I told the woman that I live in an apartment building that is part of a bigger complex, and none of us have access to the room where those connections are, that they are locked, and we don't have keys. She said it didn't matter, that I, and every tenant in this building was responsible to make sure the landlord knows they needed access. I asked her why they didn't have any contact information for the landlord of the apartment complex, since they run electric in the halls of each building, and provide the hot water to the buildings from a boiler in the basement of each building that were obviously run on natural gas. The Landlord has to get a bill from them. She insisted it was my duty to call the Landlord's office. I told her that it was ludicrous that they expected a tenant to do the job that National Grid was supposed to be doing. I did call my Landlord, and asked her if she'd received anything from National Grid. She said no, but that another tenant had shown her an email from National Grid, and she thought it was a scam (as I did). She did call them, and set up an appointment, and the heat had to be shut off for several hours that day in very cold weather. I had also called New York State's Public Service Commission, but they could have cared less about it. I abruptly hung up when she said there wasn't anything she could do about it.
Another scam now is scam mrrs calling with a spoofed number of someone you know. Never click any buttons, just hand up, and never say ‘yes’ or ‘not or anything like that because they will use it to claim you gave co sent to switch you to another service provider, ot whatever they are peddling at the moment supposedly. Don’t know if it’s true, but. Ot gonna find out. We just hang up.
BOL!. They have spoofed one of our phone numbers and then try to call us using our spoofed number. This happens about once a month.
That’s a tactic I use if I actually answer an unknown caller.
Engineering department! Or Accounting Department! Or my favorite, Customer Service!
Great fun if it’s a live call.
Thank you. They never got their money which was the best part of it all.
On some of the car warranty ones, when I get to the Indian or whatever and am asked for my information, I start yelling, “YOU CALLED ME! IF YOU DON’T KNOW WHO I AM HOW DO YOU KNOW MY CAR WARRANTY EXPIRED?” Then I just start abusing them until they hang up. That always brightens my day!
Y’all are doing it all wrong.
I keep them on the phone for a minimum of twenty minutes while I pretend to keep rebooting my old computer so I can download their AnyDesk remote program so they can scam me.
They get hilarious when they realize they’re being played.
God, I love being retired with time to kill.
[[Of course. I do tend to want things to be dealt with on MY time not HIS time]]
Yup- me too-
I think I would ask them, “How do you lie and scam people for a living, and live with yourself, you POS?!”
Thanks to everyone for your responses/comments...They are all great!!!!...LOL...
them; we’re calling to inform you that your cars warranty is about to expire...
me; i’m under the impression that the warranty expired a long time ago...

😂
I actually did have one of those!
I like answering the phone as “KTLA, you’re on the air!” Leads to dumbfounded quiet.
Likely won't happen bc they're in with the Derp State.
How was I getting texts from various females (names anyway) before the election, encouraging me to join this or that (leftist) coalition?
They even addressed me by my first name!
Again, who gave them my # and name?
Ayup, Derp Sate and the telcos are working together.
“Do you have Prince Albert in a can?”
my daily driver is a 1988 ford f250 xlt extended cab...
my weekend cruiser/show car is a 1984 chevrolet camaro starship edition...

Have received several of these. I’m supposed to receive an Apple McIntosh today that I never ordered. Im not gonna hold my breath!
I’ve also had notifications of suspicious charges of $1,495 to my Amazon account. I never respond to these, although I did follow up by initiating a call to my credit card company when I received the first one. I get at least 4 scam calls every day, but those purporting to be from Amazon are now rare.
If I don’t know the number it’s blocked.
As for a company caller ID.. Never answer. They’ll leave a message if necessary. Call them back once you research the actual company number.
Not from Amazon but got a “come get your jab at the grocery store pharmacy for FREEEEEE”.

Whoa! That’s the biggest scam of all.
My companion gets these calls several times a week. He does not have an Amazon account.
