You may have had this happen to you already, but this scam is new to me.
My wife just got a call. It was a prerecorded machine advising her that her Amazon account was being charged for $700.00 and this call was to confirm. Press 1 now if this is incorrect.
She had the presence of mind to immediately hang up.
I got hit with a call from ‘Duke Energy’ saying my power was going to be turned off...
I said, ‘the bill’s paid’ and the caller said he couldn’t stop the team coming out to turn off the power - that I needed to call DUKE ENERGY... then the “SCAM” - HE SAID, ‘WOULD YOU LIKE THEIR PHONE NUMBER?’.(I would have been given a fake number...)
Giving the impression I would be calling the real company and not the next scammer... Very slick.
I said ‘no, I had the number’ and hung up. Then I called the real DUKE ENERGY and they were so happy I hadn’t fallen for it.. Apparently lots of people fell for it because it was a two step scam... and the people sounded American...
They dragged their heels about picking up the car. My sister, a few weeks before she lapsed into a coma told me to stop making any payments on the car. She was pissed they'd given me such a hard time. The last time I talked to Honda, I told them that I lived in another part of the State, and that I had to have her apartment cleared by the end of August when her leased expired, (She died on her birthday, Sept. 2nd), and that if they didn't come to get the car, I was either going to leave it in the parking lot, dump it back at the dealer's where she got it, or just drop it off someplace, and let them find it. They finally came one morning as I was on my way to the hospice house.
Months after she died, they called me about the amount she owed, and I told them they could contact her at Riverside Cemetery on Lake Avenue, in Rochester, New York. They never called back.
God is watching and taking notes on the scum that scam the vulnerable-
i told a friend once that was considering doing something illegal, I said “Sure, you might get away with it i n the short run, but the consequences may very well end up costing you far more than you will have gained by cheating the system” (Meaning it will weigh on them consciously, Their reputation will suffer, God may cause losses in other areas of their life that they wouldn’t otherwise have endured if they’d been honest, the system may catch up with them- etc)
Short term gain at the expense of others never leads to positive outcomes, especially in eternity when we’re held to account for everything we’ve done, and payment comes due
Exactly. I usually get the message that begins with "press" a certain number, or call us back...nothing from the beginning of the call. And don't you love it when calls register as Unknown Caller. Like who in their right mind is going to answer that call?
LOL!! I'd use that line if I answered any of them, but I don't answer my landline or cell phone if I don't know who is calling.
The recording calls me about once a week. IRS quit threatening to send local “cops” after me if I did not send money. They once called five times in one hour. I sometimes hit 1 and when they answer I yell that this is a no call number. Sometimes banging the receiver on the wall gets their attention.
If you think that is a scam. . .here’s one for youhttps://drcharlieward.com/nasa-the-lies-told-to-us/?utm_content=12556943&utm_medium=Email&utm_name=Id&utm_source=Actionetics&utm_term=Email
I don’t. I waste their time. They call me and I press the button to speak to someone. Whenthey answer and ask for my name, I tell them you called me and you don’t know? I mean you said it was hacked. For some reason they hang up.
I started getting the calls about 2 weeks ago. I press the number and tell them it’s ok I often buy expensive items from Amazon then hang up.
The ones that get me are the voice messages that act like they’re having a conversation with you before you realize ... “Oh ...”
I got a call and mine was 1400.00.
Immediately blocked the number but we all know they have phone banks. Good thing I can block 150 calls.
I'm surprised nobody's posted the link to the the "Murder Scene "Telemarketing Call"
YouTube makes you post the link to the page that features the "skip ads" button, or you end up getting an error message that the video isn't playable.
I use a scam app on my phone that stops almost all of these calls - it belongs to my carrier.
I like "County Morgue! You stab 'em and we slab em!" That one almost always results in an immediate hang-up.
I’m sorry about your sister and the grief the dealer gave you. Had they handled this responsibly when you first called them they could have spared themselves a lot of needless effort.

Of course. I do tend to want things to be dealt with on MY time not HIS time......I pray that His will be done and doubly pray for patience.........;)
We get about 1 phone call a month using this scam, and we just ignore it and hang up.
Last year, we got an email stating the same thing and wanting us to respond. The fake bill was for a name brand MS portable compute. We only use Chromebook.
Ironically, at that moment, I was on the phone with an Amazon rep on another issue. She had me forward the scam email to their scam department to alert them. I did and they thanked me.
What is bhenchode?
Is it like chocolate?
I knew a woman who did that; she was a retired nurse who was starting to slip. She was convinced she had won a wad of money and a car, playing online poker. We had dinner at her house, and she had spoken to the contest “representative” on the phone, several times, and the car was to be delivered the very next day. The next time I saw her was a few years later; she had lost her home and money, and was living in a senior housing complex. She didn’t remember me, as her dementia had advanced; of course, I didn’t mention her loss.
