Many website forums have a feature allowing the poster to edit his/her post after having hit "send". Some only allow edits within "x" minutes of posting, others have no limit. I wonder if FR could have such a feature. I,like some here,am a two fingered typist who makes more than his share of errors (thanks to my old brain cells dying off)...and they're usually discovered not long after having hit "send".
If it's not difficult...or expensive...to set up I hope FR will do it.
That's simply not true.
Jim and John Robinson have explained this.
They created the Free Republic code by hand, and it took an enormous amount of effort.
Since then, every effort has gone into maintaining the code. Changes like what's proposed are very laborious for them, and Jim Rob said they (at the time) didn't have time to do all of it.
Amen and amen. The functionality of this website is stuck in 1997. Seriously, how difficult would it be to add some of these features?
Anyone who uses his/her real name on a public internet forum is rather foolish...IMO.
I would love this, especially when I type what I really mean to say, Android changes it to something else, and I don’t notice till after posting.
FreeRepublic is awesome because of its simplicity. I vote for keeping it that way.
And that is one of the attributes that make it so great. I love it just the way that it is. Change is not always good.

Hmmmm...didn't know that. I know less than nothing about computers so I guess I shouldn't be surprised to hear this.Like I said in my original post..."if it's not difficult or expensive".
Besides, some of the typos and errors are quite funny. Where would we be if “very series” had been corrected quickly?
I agree that clearly that is often, although not always, the case. It does make for extra careful consideration (far more than mere “proofreading” and not a little confidence) before hitting “Post”.

I like to think of it as posting without a safety net, as life should be.
we even have stupid forum category’s like “moose cheese sister” stuned beeber...
The ability to edit at least for a limited time would be nice. (I just corrected two typos)(make that three).
I do proofread, every time, and still sometimes mistakes do get through. I type very fast, probably over 60 words a minute, but after correcting mistakes I might get 20 words a minute. And I make plenty, even after 25 years of typing on a regular basis.
So I’d like to see the capability to edit, at least for a few minutes. As is, I have to either ignore a typo or post a correction, which eats up more bandwidth.
I think I posted on that thread but don’t remember the
content. With the thread gone my content is also. But
we are still alive and breathing God’s good air.
I try to post light content as I grow very weary of talking about abortion and joe Biden all dam day and I get my posts pulled all the time,
I put in in chit chat but people still get their noses out of joint...
FR has become very anal
every election cycle we have the purges...
and it diminishes our numbers
I see that term from time to time what is that all about ?
