The 2021 Academy Awards weren't exactly a big hit with audiences. In fact, they recorded their lowest ratings in the show's history. This is my response to Hollywood.

They don’t care.
Just like the NBA, their market is China.
I guess that’s because the CCP likes leftwing propaganda with American Hollywood production values. Good for their goals, ok for their population.
Name the title of the biggest Blockbuster movie of 2020. You can’t because there wasn’t one. All of the theaters were shut down in 2020 over COVID.
What was there to watch at the Oscar, anyway? A bunch of ‘lifetime achievement’ awards, and a bunch of foreign films?
That was epic. Thank you for posting.
Bingo.
Hollywood isn’t about Entertainment.
Hollywood isn’t about Business.
Hollywood is the propaganda arm of the CCP.
There is nothing broken here. Nothing to fix. Hollywood is doing what it is supposed to do. Oscar ratings don’t matter.
The blockbuster trend basically halted, because of Covid, and I don’t see that changing in 2021. You will see more and more small production pieces, and I suspect that South Korean production will ramp up a bit. They’ve shown that they can assemble a good story, and produce something of quality.
There were no blockbusters, but they did release the boring art house films that no one goes to see but that always make for good Oscar bait. So, yes, Frances McDormand won again.
Their mission is to destroy our culture and country. As for the awards themselves, it’s a private party and they don’t care what the ratings are.
That Scot is the best movie reviewer out there - hands down.
This is an interesting take from a decent movie critic and pretty entertaining in its own right.
I love the critical drinker. He does not hold back!
Nailed it! I am tired of explaining to my grandkids why two guys are kissing on prime-time TV. I’m tired of shows, like the recent episode of Station 19, telling me I’m a racist and, if I say I am not, I’m simply confirming that I am. I’m tired of ads that push the LBGT agenda that show same-sex couples in a disproportionately high rate. You can’t have a show any more that doesn’t have at least one same-sewx couple. Why? I’m exhausted by woke companies to the point where I can’t even enjoy my favorite soft drink. Indeed, I’m done buying their products. TV, movies, radio, sports, and other media forms are supposed to entertain. Now, they think it’s their woke duty to lecture me. You are wrong, Bucko, very wrong, and it’s going to bite you in the ass sooner or later.
It’s very simple. Make better movies and stop lecturing us. As Sam Goldwyn said, if you want to send a message, use Western Union (or these days, an email).
Movies and TV shows made in China these days have high quality production values and far less Communist dogma than anything made in Hollywood. I think these fools are pushing this garbage on their own.
Which is why they make popcorn comic book movies with dialog written by a twelve-year old. Translate much easier....
Many movie theaters opened last summer...I knew people who went.
.
It’s an “open” letter but it can’t be posted here. Different definition of “open” I suppose.
Oh, a selfie video. Doesn’t anyone write letters any more?
Yeah, I’m old. I still spell Hollywood the old fashioned way if I have to spell it at all.

Go back and check out his skewering of the newer star wars movies.
He especially despises todays woke movies.
When Star Wars fans criticized “The Last Jedi” for turning Luke Skywalker into an weak, pessimistic old sniveling coward in order to make the leading women of the movie look strong by comparison, JJ Abrams retaliated by saying they just hated women. No, it’s not about entertainment anymore.
A great take....
