HORRIFIC VIDEO RELEASED — Violent arrest of 73 year-old Karen Garner… [CO]

“Ready for the pop? Here comes the pop.”

The quote above is from a Loveland Police officer – Austin Hopp – said in reference to the sound it made when he dislocated and fractured Karen Garner’s shoulder. Hopp made this comment to two fellow Loveland Police officers while they watched his body camera video together at the police station. They all laughed about it. The comment was made while Karen Garner, who has dementia, remained handcuffed to a bench in a cell just 10 feet away from them, alone, confused and crying in pain. She would ultimately go over six hours without any medical attention.

This horrific statement comes to light after Ms. Garner’s family hired a sound engineer to enhance the audio on Loveland Police station booking videos from the day of Karen’s arrest. The video reveals a grotesque culture of callous disregard for the health and safety of citizens. The officers fist-bump one another multiple times in self-congratulation for both the assault on Garner and the intimidation of the citizen who attempted to complain about it.

In an April 26, 2021 press release responding to the revelations seen in this video, Ms. Garner’s attorney, Sarah Schielke of The Life & Liberty Law Office states: “This is utterly disgusting. These videos cannot be unseen or unheard. I am sorry to have to share them with the public. This will be traumatic and deeply upsetting for everyone to see. But as it often goes with bad police departments, it seems this is the only way to make them change. They have to be exposed. If I didn’t release this, the Loveland Police’s toxic culture of arrogance and entitlement, along with their abuse of the vulnerable and powerless, would carry on, business as usual. I won’t be a part of that.”

“Loveland knew. They’ve known all along,” Schielke continues. “They failed Karen Garner. They failed the community. And they did it all on camera. Do you realize how horrifying that is? That means they were used to getting away with it. That the comfortable norm in Loveland is one of zero accountability. That this is not just some ‘isolated incident.’ It is not just one single ‘problem.’ It is widespread, sociopathic criminality. And to attempt to shift the burden to Karen, or a bystander, or her family, or counsel, to report this? Shame on you, Loveland. You took an oath to protect and serve. This is a disgrace.”

Since filing a federal lawsuit against the City of Loveland and three of its officers on April 14, 2021, the Loveland Police Department’s gruesome arrest and abuse of 73-year-old grandmother Karen Garner has horrified the country, making national headlines (New York Times, Washington Post, CBS News, NBC News, CNN, Newsweek, The Guardian, Vice). The 8th Judicial District Attorney’s office, in conjunction with the FBI and Fort Collins Police, has since opened a criminal investigation into the Loveland Police.

Meanwhile, the City of Loveland has vowed to protect the “due process” rights of its officers, with Chief Robert Ticer putting one officer on administrative leave (Hopp) and “reassigning” the other two officers (Sergeant Metzler and Officer Jalali) to “administrative duties” (desk duty) until the various investigations are completed. To date, the City has yet to extend any apology to Ms. Garner or her family for the various atrocities witnessed on these videos.

He told me horror stories about people he turned down for the police department but got hired anyway because of connections.

How do they see through any lies? I've been wondering about that.

You would be surprised how dementia patients get away from supervision. Happens all the time. You could tell she was not mentally well by the way she responded.

I'm struck by how juvenile the cops were and how out of shape....

I'm struck how the cops always seem to go after the frailest and most vulnerable people to clobber....

I'm struck that they did not use DISCRETION in this situation....like talking to the lady first ...talking with her gently would have revealed that she had some mentation problems....

The woman had dementia. It was obvious.

exactly...Walmart acted idiotically....

for all we know, the woman might have done similar things in the past and they just wanted to finally get her arrested....

but like the cops going after the guy selling single cigarettes, you have to choose the hill you want to die on....

I usually support law enforcement except when they collectively, go about protecting clowns like these.

They've all been doing that for many decades.

Thing is, she didn’t even have the stuff anymore. Just walked off picking wildflowers.

By the way, how many Walmarts have been totally looted of all merchandise and nobody called the cops to come and beat up and hog tie people?

No, they were told to let them do it.

"You don’t have to be professional to see when the woman faces the cop from her facial expression she us very confused and repeating I’m going home she has mental issues."

I know, right?....perhaps its because I've worked with dementia type patients my whole career....you just know....everything from body stance to words to glaring eyes....

I blame her family. Surely they knew Grandma needed a keeper. From what I’ve read they should never have let Grandma go out alone. She was belligerent and confused at Walmart

100% agree.

Now, let me say what is evil, the MSM will not cover this story, like they did not cover the Timpa case, because it doesn’t fit their marxist race-war narrative.

I think the plan is to first get rid of the communists and the globalists in our country.

Then we can take care of rogue cops, which unfortunately do pop up now and again.

The complicating factor is that the communists have been trying to divide our populace into those who support police and those who don’t. So again, we first get rid of the communists.

The police's own actions make that happen. They switched their brown shirts for blue.

That’s not true.

The communists have planned and orchestrated the pro-cop/anti-cop controversy for years.

The only takeaway for you to remember is communism is very low IQ, about as low IQ as it can possibly get.

Yep. Many people steal from retail stores. On purpose - not because they’re confused, suffering from dementia.

Some officers are too nice (imho), paying for the groceries of people who say they stole food because they couldn’t afford it.

Then we have these other kinds of cops who rough up a little 5’ tall, 80-pound woman with dementia, lie on their report, and then laugh at her while she sits in a cell for six hours.

“How in the world don’t the psychopaths get weeded out at the academy or in the hiring process after completing academy?”

I don’t know. I’m a girl, I don’t want to sound all feminist or anything, but there are A LOT of guys who are just complete jerks. And if a guy is big and strong, and he wants to be a jerk, and those around him tolerate it or encourage it, then a jerk can do a lot of damage.

I’m remembering two guys who came to repair the phones at my job, and I had to go down and meet with them in this little creepy phone room. The one fellow was nice, but the other just basically leered at me and asked me questions in a very condescending manner. This schlemiel thought he was going to intimidate me. Very bad vibe.

I went upstairs and told my boss he had to go down and deal with them, because one of them seemed like a date rapist and I was done with them.

I have found that perhaps even a majority of women are actually attracted to the bad guy act. All the domestic violence, battered wives and abused children continue because it is a successful strategy for the abuser.

In the business world you more or less get ahead by being a successful bully (not everyone, some of the executives I have met are quite nice people). As long as you have some finesse about it your fellow humans seem to think it is a legitimate way to conduct yourself.

Even wildly unsuccessful bullies hardly ever seem to get in trouble over their behavior. To a degree, I think they represent a credible threat for going postal that even senior leadership is afraid of.

So while we may all be shocked and outraged by these things, my experience is that when actually faced with these situations people make all the wrong choices to deal with them.

I think if you have exited the store’s doors without paying for the merchandise in your possession that would be considered shoplifting
