TikTokers are ditching frying pans to make their bacon.
Instead home chefs are getting crispy strips by twisting and baking their bacon slices. This rising viral trend appears to have gotten its start in mid-March with the hashtag "twisted bacon."
So far, the hashtag has nearly 100 videos attached to the term, which has amassed more than 217,400 views.
TikTok users have also hashtagged variations, including "bacon twist" and "bacon twists," which both have dozens of videos that have garnered more than 240,200 views combined.
On April 6, TikTok creator Richard Eats shared a twisted bacon tutorial that seems to have sparked interest in the cooking method with its more than 107,100 views.
Richard says baking the twisted strips at 375 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes resulted in the "crispiest and chewiest bacon" he has ever had.

How can bacon be ‘crispy’ and ‘chewy’ at the same time?
Laws yes!
tiktoc secret until now...
how can deviled egg be hard boiled yet creamy?
meat press bacon???
Yeah, the less I have to handle raw bacon, the better. Straight to the frying pan.
Crispy outside, chewy center?
M-O-O-N that spells bacon..
And your oven would then be filled with grease.
:)
Been baking my bacon for 20+ years!
Restaurants bulk-cook their bacon in ovens.
We did the twisty oven-backed bacon thing back in the 80’s, along with the deep fried mozzarella sticks, onion soup, and blue cheese dressing fads.
Gotta get out your over-sized Perry Ellis jacket and those oh-so-groovy Capezios!
Do I WANT my bacon chewy? Nope. Not why I eat bacon.i eat it for the salty crunch.
blue cheese dressing was a fad???
Same way good pizza crust is, I guess; crunchy on the outside, chewy on the inside.

Hold each end of the bacon and twist in opposite directions until twisted as much as you’d like. Place on a broiler pan and cook at 400-ish until the bacon is nice and crispy. No flipping or turning, just pop it in the oven until it’s done! It will retain the “twist” and you’ll have yourself some twisted bacon. Or spiraled bacon. Or curly q bacon. Whatever. Call it what you will, but it will be bacon that’s better!
Tip: The thicker your bacon, the harder it will be to both twist it and have it retain the twist. You may want to use metal skewers threaded just through the ends of the bacon to help it to hold its shape.

There is also a brown sugar sauce you put on it. No dang way. Nothing goes on bacon but bacon.
frying bacon is a royal pain. I line a cookie sheet with foil give a touch of Pam to prevent sticking and lay the bacon flat. I don’t twist. Cook in A 350 degree pre heated oven for 17 to 20 minutes depending on your desired crispness. Same as frying but without the splatter or hovering over it. Delicious. As I only eat 2 slices at a sitting I freeze the rest to be nuked for future breakfasts.
