He swallowed the evidence and it was too much for his system. 3-4 times the lethal limit for fentanyl.
He was trying to avoid the possession charges to go along with passing a counterfeit $20 bill.

Every one in the end dies. Somethings we will never know. For starters..lets keep the narrative alive and make this dude larger than life, a HERO, a man of impeccable character and never did anyone harm, and was totally innocent and a victim. Repeat this again and again... This will allow people to burn down busineeses of people who had absolutely nothing to do with the police, the drugs, but it DOES fit into keeping the News alive..and people tuned in.
Add to that inquiry of yours the added stress and energy expenditure of resisting arrest:-)

Because Floyd was restrained even after he stopped talking and moving. And even after he evidently pissed himself. And even after another cop checked Floyd‘s pulse, and found none. That’s the thing about this whole mess that bothers me.

Not from my actual experience. I chose to try it out. My assistant had one of a four point stance on the back of my neck. Not even close to closing my windpipe or major arteries. You breathe with your diaprahm. If your lungs are in decent condition, you should be able get through with nothing more than some very minor bruising and possibly a visit to the chiro.

Well, absent the encounter with police, he still would have had more than 3x the lethal dose of Fentanyl along with all the underlying medical conditions.
The ME admitted in a memo that was entered into evidence that if Floyd had been discovered dead in his bed, he wouldn’t have had any problems concluding that he died of a drug overdose complicated by underlying pulmonary and cardiac disease.

If he didn’t die that day, it would have been some other day. Either via gang/dug violence or from drug abuse itself.

Given the testimony I have heard thus far, the answer would be a resounding yes. He would likely have collapsed and died within a few hundred yards.
Floyd was in bad health and stress kills.
He was dying when the po.ice first got there, before any interaction by the po,ice. George’s first words to police, I. His drugged out state of mind was ‘I can’t breathe. He was panicking because he was having trouble breathing even before police got there. George was already dying. The only question is, did the interaction speed it up or not? I don’t think so. His autopsy showed His lungs were toast. The struggle didn’t do that to him

Yes. Toxicokinetics of the drug is well established. Lethal concentration does not change dye to being restrained or free.

I would venture a guess that upon seeing the police while under the influence of drugs, he gulped the rest of them to avoid charges.
