United Airlines, the only major U.S. airline to own a flight school, will begin accepting applications today as it embarks on an ambitious plan to train 5,000 new pilots by 2030, at least half of them women and people of color. Backed by scholarship commitments from United Airlines and JPMorgan Chase, United Aviate Academy will create opportunities for thousands of students, including women and people of color to pursue a career as a commercial airline pilot, one of the most lucrative careers in the industry.

I have no problem whatsoever with capable women and POC becoming pilots. But, if they’re opening the floodgates to candidates simply because of their sex or skin color...I’m outta here.

I used to work the ramp for Delta for the flight benefits. What I saw scared me, I don’t fly as much anymore.

I've only flown Delta twice in my life: Once to Atlanta then onto Chattanooga, TN for a job interview at a major disability insurance carrier, and then back home (same day and it was a VERY long day!)

As God in Heaven is my witness, I will never fly Delta again. I cannot believe how crappily that airline is run.

FWIW, I am so damn' glad I didn't get that job in Chattanooga as a few months later the China Virus hit and I probably would've been riffed right along with three of the four people that would've hired me were.

The Lord works in mysterious ways sometimes. I wanted the job and didn't get it. Looking back it was all part of God's great plan.

Just another manifestation of systemic racism against Whites (especially White Men).

This has been going on for decades, but since last May, has been ratcheted up into hyper overdrive.

It will not level off anytime soon. I foresee the day when the government creates a formal set of laws to institutionalize racism against Whites. Not quite like separate drinking fountains, but perhaps worse.

While I don't watch very much TV, when I do, I notice that there are more multi-racial and black couples than white couples doing commercials for autos and home products. I live in W PA, and while there are some multi-racial couples in real life, it is nothing like TV.

As a fellow W PA resident, I can echo that. According to the TV, apparently it's the LAW that you can't have an SO of the same race.

Delta is really 2 companies in one, they have the main line which is Delta directly then they sub out the crap, which is most of their business, ie, hubs, and that is run by another company which Delta owns 40% of.

When I would use my flight privileges I was treated so bad by fellow Delta employees because I worked for DGS and not Delta directly. Delta has some serious management issues and hire people who are willing to be moraless bosses. I have witnessed the entire operation from the inside and am totally surprised people still fly on them.

I PERSONALLY saw many MANY competent pilots (white male obv) who were repeatedly passed over so that a sub par female or other category was hired.

Sadly, I saw the same in the US Air Force. It's amazing that after at least 40 years of this, minorities and women are still 'underrepresented' in the field.

I never see white couples anymore and all the kids are non-white. BTW, I work at NOT buying products being sold by these WOKE companies that do not include people who look like me in their ads. However, I end up buying a lot of fresh food and generic household products. Quite a change from the days when the only times you saw dark faces in an ad were for Salem cigarettes and Four Roses booze.

I remember a few years ago when they pushed black women into air traffic control training. I don't think it worked out very well as the voices I hear on my friend's plane are still white men, and an occasional white woman.
