I’m going to a “COVID-woke” Evangelical Church tomorrow morning maskless
Self | Apr 3, 2021 | fwdude

I’ll be going maskless to the early service tomorrow. This is a former church of mine that I attended several years ago until I saw the writing on the walls on how “seeker sensitive” they’ve been.

They require masks until you are seated. How far should I push this?

You are absolutely right FW.

Philippians 4:6-7, Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Some Christians live in fear when there is no need. It’s our job to show them the truth...”to occupy till I come” as Jesus told us in Luke 19:13.

BTW, what the heck is going on with FR? Posters never used to tolerate tyranny.

Here’s how we do it in Florida. We let every group, every person, every Church, store and bar make their own call. Then the rest of us respect that choice.

From what I’ve seen everyone wears a mask in grocery stores because we respect the right of the store and the store’s ownera to make that call.

No one wears masks at the beach.

Everything else is in between.

When tourists come here from out of State and realize we don’t have mask laws - and that our schools are open - and our economy is humming along they discard their masks... without realizing the people of Florida have come up with their own informal ways to deal with the situation. A simple respect for the rights of others to make their own call over their ‘jurisdiction’...

If I was from a state that did lock-downs and made laws that people MUST wear masks it would be harder to gracious and accepting. ...

I still feel your choice on Easter is a mistake for you and for the people who have a right to worship in their own style and way.

It ain’t your job.<

Who’s job is it?

Say:

"I have nothing to hide before God, do you?"

Don't wait for an answer and go directly to your pew. If they then persist you mask up, leave.

Looks like there will be no confrontation, according to their website. They recommend but don’t require masks.

People who go to church on Easter, are taking their guidance from God and Jesus - not from egotistical political activists.

I’m envious of your governor is Florida. Texas’ governor has been a bit of a squish, but finally came around to remove the mandate and all occupancy limits. We should be able to do better.

This one has swallowed the “white guilt” Koolaid within the last year. A black employee at the church asked the pastor what his thought were on the racist political unrest and rioting of last year, and he placated her with the “racism is evil” narrative. He made a point of saying the “sin of racism” would not be tolerated at that church. I had to ask myself, what he meant by “tolerated,” “racism” and “sin.” Was “racism” as he defined it now the defining sin which would expell congregants, above even pornography, open homosexuality, or adultery?

Florida’s great...

DeSantis also told us some months back if antifa thugs try blocking our car and we’re concerned for our lives to just keep driving... He assumes the mob will get out of the way or get run over. You would like it here.

We respect each other’s rights but speak freely, move about freely and each groups gets to form their own rules on lots of things that aren’t the government’s business..

I’ve never been to Florida, Arkansas is as far east as I’ve been in the Deep South. But I keep hearing good things about you guys, even if some of it is a little “quirky.” I respect any state which can elect a sane, decent governor.

Are they really? All of them?

Maybe some are going out of habit, or to be seen, or to show off a new outfit, or to be with friends, or eat potluck.

Satan prowls the world looking for souls. I don’t think it’s a stretch to believe he occupies a pew in lukewarm “churches”.

And I guess you’re the expert on which churches run at the proper ‘temperature’.

Just leave other people alone, to worship in their own way without controversy.

Shake the dust off your sandals, then. What’s in your heart now?

I would hope it would be the Risen Christ, not turning conflict with your church into an idol. If you have an issue with how they’re running it, please do discuss it with the leadership. Please don’t disrupt services on our holiest day to make a point.
