Our enemies can spot crippled leadership. Our military leaders are more interested in pursuing the rights of alphabet lunatics, in men who are dead set on castrating themselves and making protective gear for pregnant women, than in winning a war. An unofficial chain of command hiding in the shadows in a democracy is no real chain of command. Predator governments will take full advantage of it. It will be no surprise. It is only when, not if.

China has a fierce military within proximity to its own borders.
China has little logistical capability beyond the mainland.
China has a very weak air force in comparison to the US and even to Russia.
China has little deep water naval capability and once you are out of missile and aircraft range (their planes have very low range).
This is a simple fact. China cannot stand up to the US military in a large theater conflict. They can more than hold their own on their own land or around it.
Too few understand this. China prefers to use economic and trade measures to achieve their goal (world dominance by the CCP). Yes, they are working on building their capabilities, but the amount they spend is small compared to what the US spends on better technology and systems.
China’s long term plan has always been to defeat the US economically and they are going to succeed. A strong defense requires $$$$$. Bankrupt the US and we can neither maintain or fund a strong defense with force projection.
Xi is growing impatient, but the long-term plan of China is not much different than that which the old USSR had. They will destroy us from within. We are accommodating them.
China has a lot of internal problems that the West does not pay much attention to. They have their own debt bubble(s) and structural issues. The difference is that the CCP is much more ruthless than we are when it comes to the welfare of their own people. We will bankrupt ourselves for the welfare state we created. They will not. This is why importing 20-40 million people from the 3rd world is an issue of national security.

The present sitting president would be overjoyed if the mainland Communist Chinese overtly attacked an overseas American installation. It would be the toehold to the draft, and the welcome lessening of American lives, so as to replevy any financial responsibilities, i.e., payroll, or benefits due.
