Tensions between the United States and China seem to be growing by the day, prompting some in Washington to worry about a potential military conflict between our two countries within the next six months. The latest flashpoint: the vital waterways of the South China Sea.
For the first time, the US government this week declared China's activities in the South China Sea illegal.
"On Monday for the first time we made our policy on the South China Sea crystal clear: It's not China's maritime empire," Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told reporters Thursday.
Now, this four million square kilometer shipping lane is turning into a major flashpoint.
Rep. Ted Yoho, the top Republican on the House Foreign Affairs subcommittee for Asia, sees potential military action ahead, telling the Washington Examiner: "I would predict there will be a clash within the next three to six months."

In a terrible kind of way, it might be the best thing that could happen to us. Unless it goes nuclear of course.
I remember watching a movie named, “On The Beach” years ago. It was a dystopian drama about the citizens of Australia spending their final days after a nuclear war. The destruction of the world had been horribly effective, the lethal clouds were imminent and there was no escaping a terrible end.
Now, years later we are treated to the insanity of Sleepy Joe and I understand. It’s coming, it promises to be awful, and there isn’t a damned thing to do about it - other than enjoy one’s final days.
Actually there is something that could be done, but that something is unspeakable...
I was hearing before the swearing in that Trump wanted to sign the insurrection act. The military was ready to take over and investigate but they wanted to go after china in return. Maybe not true but given everything else that’s happened right in our face it would not surprise me.

Though the article is out of date by three years I don’t expect the ChiComs to wait long before they take military action against Taiwan and the United States.
