A Thailand university said it has trained dogs to sniff out coronavirus with a high success rate, in a pilot that researchers hope would become an alternative method to effectively detect patients and those that are asymptomatic.

Very interesting. Dogs can sniff out contraband, cancer, explosives, among other things.

Where will they sniff? Well, at least they won’t have to do that anal swab test anymore.

So now boarding a cruise ship or airplane flight, there could be a dog sniffing at you.

What if you have antibodies from having covid 19 and recovering completely and now you are even donating antibodies... do the dogs sniff you out as having covid?

LOL may be because Biden mainly sniffs young girls who are not known to be sick with the virus?

Do these dogs ever contract the respiratory illness?

Same thing when you get the vaccine. You will have anti-bodies. My guess is the dogs are sniffing active exhalation of virus cells when one is sick with covid-19. And not the anti-bodies in blood plasma.

Don’t know if corona virus can cross across species. Can your dog get flu from you for example? I never heard of that.

Thailand is limiting vaccines to only healthcare workers right now. Next in line are seniors.

Well you can catch rabies from your dog. Every time we got sick when the kids were little our cat got sick, too. Our vet said it went against everything he learned in vet school but he noticed that when the family got sick with flu, the pets did too. Coincidence?

While we (humans) have 2 million olfactory cells (smell) in our noses, dogs have 300 million in theirs.
Dogs smell ability are said to be so intense that they produce a picture in a dogs brains as sensitive as the picture provided by our eyes for us.

You ask a valid question.
Dog must bite you and draw blood in order to catch rabies is what I understand. So you can get rabies not from dog’s blood or breath but from the rabies pathogen directly, present in dog’s saliva.
If dog sniffs a human sick with covid-19, the dog is not likely to get sick because the dog are not known to get sick from covid-19.

Actually, I have heard that Covid can infect both dogs and cats.
It was odd. Back in February 2020, my wife and I both got a sore throat and headache, and at the same time, both of our cats got some respiratory thing which I have NEVER had a cat, never mind two, get this thing where they were wheezing and such...
And I NEVER get these kinds of symptoms (not been susceptible to colds or flus my whole life)
We both wondered if we had contracted COVID early on and never knew it.
