What great advice...thank you. I was unaware of K2 and as you point out, my cardiologist should have known this. I had quad bypass 1992 and again 2005. Heart attacks both times. Operating with about 50% capacity.
I’m in good shape but not on paper...why the hell cardiologist would ignore this blows me away. They’re just like big pharma...take the echo, nuclear stress tests, etc BIG BUCKS from insurance. Meanwhile at age 72, I stilll go skiing, can swim 4 lengths of pool underwater on a single breath, and drink a bottle of champagne every day, and enjoy life. Damn doctors! Thank YOU SecAmmndmt for the valuable advice.

PS..I’ve always liked a perfect pair.
If you have deposits on your arteries, it is related to inflammation. Reduce inflammation, and you’ll see benefits. What causes inflammation. Well...refined sugar for one. And excess omega-6 fats. Would it surprise you to learn that the oils which are ubiquitous in our American diet since about WW2 are all high in omega-6 fatty acids? Why would our MDs not tell us about this?
Look up Dr Stephen Sinatra, MD. He combines the nutritional and some Pharma. He’s written a number of books. I bet some of the MDs here on FR think he’s a quack, because he promotes things like co-enzyme Q10 (the latter is also critical to take after a stroke!).
BTW, serrapeptase, an enzyme can be taken every morning on an empty stomach. It helps to clear your arteries. But don’t take my word for it. I’m not a MD. I am just sharing information. Look it up. I bet Sinatra talks about it. If you’re interested, I can suggest a good brand. Or maybe he suggests one. If he does, I would go with his advice.
BTW I got my Dad off a strong acid reflux prescription that he had been on for some time. He followed my advice and started taking a shot of apple cider vinegar daily, plus probiotics. He rarely needs but the odd Gaviscon now, instead of the strong “medicine” he was taking before. So why did his specialist not tell him about this simple apple cider vinegar habit? Hmmm.
Yes, K2 and probably also magnesium (preferably chelated). But look it up or even better, consult with a wellness MD. They can tell you exactly what you need.
It is my understanding that you should have your blood level of vitamin D checked annually, in order to establish how much D you should take orally. It is a simple and inexpensive test. [Why is it not a standard test, when Vitamin D is so critically important to our health? Maybe because modern medicine is not interested in making you truly healthier, because healthy people are not profitable.]
All the best to you and yours.
One more thing. I have a great wellness MD here in Texas. He is also a solid Christian and conservative leader. One of the other MDs at his practice told me that despite a lot of sun exposure, they were finding that patients tested for D levels were simply not appearing to synthesize it through sun exposure alone. Perhaps related to pollution, diet, or other factors? But not effective.
Thank you for the information and advice :)
I’ve been taking 5000 3 days a week and 10000 4 days a week. Just had my level tested...it was 62.
