I’ve listened to jazz. To me it’s like twilight zone music to appease the mentally ill. Maybe I was listening to the wrong stuff.
I remember Corea performing at the White House in 1981, with violinist Itzhak Perlman (an admitted jazz enthusiast) hosting and Nancy Reagan present. I don’t recall, though, if the performance took place while Ronald Reagan was still in the hospital after his assassination attempt.
A legend not seen since John Coltrane. I didn’t realize he was in Miles Davis’ band in the 80s.
RIP one of the greats
RIP.
Saw both Miles Davis and Chick Corea at the Hollywood Bowl in the early 80s. I think it was the Playboy Jazz Festival but I’m not 100% sure.
Did he take the vaccine?
RIP.
I saw Return to Forever several times back in the 70s (sometimes with with John McLaughlin & the Mahavishnu Orchestra, others with Larry Coryell & Eleventh House, IMS).
Jean Luc Ponty was in there somewhere. Billy Cobham. Wow.
Great musicians playing fusion!
I played the “My Spanish Heart” album until I wore it out.

Kind of fitting. My Uncle died in February, 2020 and he was a TOTAL music buff - all genres. Uncle Jimmy will be happy to see Mr. Corea. :)
Chick Corea and Return to Forever.
Awesome blend of Jazz Rock Fusion....
I would recommend listening to his “Chick Corea Elektric Band”
As well if not familiar with any of his work.
He will truly be missed.
Amazing Pianist and Musician.
Prayers go out to his family and friends 🙏
Where have I known you before

Everybody seems to be dying. I can’t even keep track of it all anymore. Pretty soon, everybody I grew up with will be dead, dead, dead.
My favorite version of one of Chick’s compositions.

Ahhhhh. Such a great man, musician, artist. I’ve worked with some of his fellow band mates throughout my career. Corea’s creative light and passion for the freedom and fun of music creation and expression radiates clearly through his final messages (asa well as his music). RIP and enjoy playing and creating with the great musicians that have passed before you Chick
Chick was to Miles what Zavinul was to Cannonball.
The good ones are going fast.
He was a long-term Scientologist, right?
One of the greats. Wonder if he had the vaccine.
I don’t recall Spirit doing any of his work, but...FYI
