American jazz pioneer, composer, keyboardist and bandleader Chick Corea passed away on Tuesday, according to a post on his Facebook page. He was 79 years old. The Facebook statement says Corea died from “a rare form of cancer which was only discovered very recently.”

You summed it up for me, too.
He was a long-term Scientologist, right?
I wish the article would have NAMED the type of cancer he had...
Maybe others could be made aware that there is more than lung, cancer...there are many types of blood cancer..many rare and no cure, no treatment...
Sad for all that suffer..Prayers for all, who suffer from all forms of that hated disease ..
One of the greats. Wonder if he had the vaccine.
Yes. I asked him about that after a concert in Portland a very long time ago. He said Scientology was a useful tool.
One of my genius-heroes since his days with Miles.
Thanks for the great music, Chick. You were an inspiration.
I don’t recall Spirit doing any of his work, but...FYI
What instrument do you play.
I see, you have to use the right stuff to listen to it! Maybe Thorazine huh?
I like jazz. Some people say I’m mentally ill.

That dude was cool, too bad but we are all on borrowed time.
Another great musician gone...
I’ve read his nickname came from his aunt, but never the story behind that.
Prayers for his family and friends.
I’m enjoying (slightly mournfully and smiling at the same time) “Spain” (with orchestra) as I type this.
