(CNN)A livestream of a virtual court proceeding in Texas took an "appawling" turn when a lawyer appeared as a cat on screen.
Judge Roy B. Ferguson of the 394th Judicial District Court in Texas kindly addressed the cat in the virtual room, suggesting that attorney Rod Ponton adjust his Zoom settings. The mishap on Tuesday was posted by the court's YouTube channel. "Mr. Ponton, I believe you have a filter turned on in the video settings," the judge said. The small, white kitten looked sad with its concerned eyes darting back and forth. The kitten opened its mouth to speak. "Can you hear me judge?" Ponton said, appearing in the cat filter. "I'm here, live, I'm not a cat," he said a few seconds later.

Was the cat wearing his pants?
“I am not a cat! I am a human being!”
Could be worse. You could be not a dog;

I’m guessing this was a violation of the Local Rules.
I like how he says “I’m not a cat,” and the judge says “I can see that.”
VERY cute. My cat has a Twitter account. She wants to learn how to use Zoom now. Computer guy coming Friday, he’ll work it out for me. Next thing you hear from my house will be DaisyJane pontificating. She already has a Twitter page where she chats with other cats. Big fun. No politics over there. A cat-breath of fresh air.
lol...the youtube comment said “I hope they don’t use a laser pointer in the court room!”
Well, not today anyway.
< / trans cat >
the lawyer pretty much looks like i figured he would...except I expected a moustache
Reminds me of Super Troopers when they had the cat game.
Alright Meow.

That is hilarious!
This has legal malpractice written all over it
I thought it was hilarious, and very timely.
(My cat is a far better Constitutional Scholar - and a lot more honest - than Jamie Raskin is.)
Just saw this on TV. The newsheads were cracking up
I’m glad the lawyer clarified that he was not a kitten that miraculously spoke English and was appearing on behalf a client at this hearing. We never would have known otherwise.
This guy could do amazing things for the rest of his career but he will forever be remembered for appearing as a cat. He will love going to parties and being reminded of this incident.
