Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) said he does not support raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour, throwing a major wrench in Democrats’ already fraught hopes

Shame it wasn't someone like Sen. Feinstein, because that would be throwing a major wench in the Dem's hopes

Right now Joe Manchin has a great deal of power. However don’t get the impression that the man has a moral fiber in his body and very much doubt he will use his moment in history wisely or effectively

Geez, so now we have to hear everything this WV POS has to say while he plays middle of the road politics for attention.

Wake up West Virginia.

The minimum wage is at best a Tenth Amendment argument. In actuality the market should decide and there should be no minimum.

IF (and thats a BIG if) they wanted to change min wages it should be done by states anyway not the federal government. Every state has different cost of living.

“Democrats’ already fraught hopes of giving workers a major pay raise.”

Er, firing anyone who can’t produce more than $15/hr value.

I don’t understand why Democrats hate the poor so much.

Manchin is to the right of Romney and less despicable, but that’s a low bar.

Slippy (Commie Red) Joe is playing the role of the token moderate for the olgrich klapo wing of the socialist democratic party at the same-time he’s attempting too Robert Byrd himself into position of power by carefully toeing the line of each side.

Does unemployment really pay that well?

Not the worst situation that this guy is the most powerful man in congress. Not great but imagine if Democrats had 60 Senate seats like 2009. There would be no stopping the communists on anything since the filibuster would already be gone. They could get the most radical lunatic ideas passed on 51 votes.

Now that the Democrats are in power they will prod a few Democrats to kill all those promises that they used to get voted in, now their promises will come short a few votes from getting passed. That $1400 or $2000 covid relief check will probably get whetted down to just another $600 or so and only half of the citizens in the USA will get it, the $15 minimum wage promise will slowly disappear and a more reasonable one will be passed that is just slightly higher then what it is right now.

"Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) said he does not support raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour [emphasis added], throwing a major wrench in Democrats’ already fraught hopes of giving workers a major pay raise."
FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument

Patriots are reminded that even if Sen. Manchin supported the proposed $15 national minimum wage, it remains that the states have never expressly constitutionally given Congress the specific power to regulate INTRAstate wages.

More specifically, regardless what lawless Democrats want to subjectively read into the Commerce Clause (1.8.3) to win votes from low-information voters, Justice Joseph Story had indicated that the specific power to regulate INTRAstate labor wages is not among Congress’s constitutional Article I, Section 8-limted powers.

Regarding Congress’s very few, constitutionally enumerated powers, note that former Arizona federal Rep. John Shadegg had proposed the Enumerated Powers Act which would have obligated Congress to justify every bill with its constitutionally enumerated powers. But the last that I heard is the bill unsurprisingly wound up in the circular file.

I say to throw Section 3 of the 14th Amendment at congressional Democrats and RINOs to remove them from office since they are always trying to bypass the Constitution’s Article V requirement for successfully petitioning the states to amend new powers for Congress to the Constitution by passing unconstitutional bills that steal state powers.

"14th Amendment, Section 3: No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same [emphasis added], or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability."

“No one in America should work 40 hours a week making below the poverty line...”

He’s never worked in the Agricultural industry where there is no minimum wage. In 1962 I was picking green beans for a penny a pound. One day, Only one, I actually made $5.00!

Then the weather turned dry and I never made over $2.80 a day even though I picked the same amount of beans.

Another thing to keep in mind....

Increasing the minimum wage is unsustainable especially in these ecomically opressed times.

Raising the minimum wage will only cause more mom and pop shops to close for lack of ability to compete against the corporatly owned big box stores.

Corporations have the capital and fortitude to replace non essential service and production workers with automation.

Just look at amazon. As they gain more and more of the retail industry, expect those currently employed to be replaced by technology. And the quicker the increase in federally mandated wages, the quicker timeframe for their replacement with automation.

Lets not further cripple the mom and pops ability to survive.
