Sen. Joe Manchin Says No To $15 Minimum Wage, Possibly Killing Push In Congress ($11 may be okay)
Huffington Post ^ | 2/02/20 | Tara Golshan, Dave Jamieson

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) said he does not support raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour, throwing a major wrench in Democrats’ already fraught hopes of giving workers a major pay raise.

Manchin, who is among the most moderate of the Senate Democratic Caucus, did, however, open the door to a more narrow increase in the minimum wage from its current $7.25.

“I’m supportive of an increase that’s responsible and reasonable, and in my state that’s $11,” Manchin told congressional reporters, adding that the rate should account for inflation.

Manchin is bucking his own party’s leadership. House Democrats have already passed the Raise the Wage Act, which would phase in a $15 minimum wage over several years. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (N.Y.) is behind the proposal — as is President Joe Biden.

“No one in America should work 40 hours a week making below the poverty line — $15 gets people above the poverty line,” Biden said in late January. The White House’s proposal for COVID-19 relief backs a $15 minimum wage, and Biden issued an executive order last week that took the first step toward increasing the minimum wage for federal workers and contractors to $15 an hour.

**SNIP**

Manchin’s balk at $15 shows just how much of an uphill climb Democrats face on their minimum wage plan. Although $15 is now formally a piece of the party platform, several Democratic senators still have not endorsed the number. So far, only 37 have co-sponsored the minimum wage bill reintroduced in the Senate last week, while a handful facing reelection in 2022 have kept their names off the legislation.

Walmart is already paying their people $15 to start.

Yet Walmart fired all Americans in its Bentonville headquarters and replaced them all with H1B Indian scumbags.

Only $15/hr jobs Walmart gives are part-time or brutal
Warehouse distribution jobs.

Now that the Democrats are in power they will prod a few Democrats to kill all those promises that they used to get voted in, now their promises will come short a few votes from getting passed. That $1400 or $2000 covid relief check will probably get whetted down to just another $600 or so and only half of the citizens in the USA will get it, the $15 minimum wage promise will slowly disappear and a more reasonable one will be passed that is just slightly higher then what it is right now.

That’s not true.

Sorry to burst you bubble but Walmart still employs mostly Americans that worked their way up from lower positions.

Well Joe and the Ho are creating a new category- DALCA with will allow Indian kids to stay here instead of aging out and being forced to return to India.

What rock did you crawl out from under? No minimum wage? Our country had that at one time and we had subsistence wages, 18 hour days, 6 days a week and 10 year old children working the looms.

Then why settle for $15.00 an hour?

Why not $75.00 an hour. That would create an even better wage earning.

Do you believe its the federal governments job to determine a federal minimum wage which applies to both California as well as well as Georgia and Wyoming?

How does a federal minimum wage apply to cost of living state by state?

"Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) said he does not support raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour [emphasis added], throwing a major wrench in Democrats’ already fraught hopes of giving workers a major pay raise."
FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument

Patriots are reminded that even if Sen. Manchin supported the proposed $15 national minimum wage, it remains that the states have never expressly constitutionally given Congress the specific power to regulate INTRAstate wages.

More specifically, regardless what lawless Democrats want to subjectively read into the Commerce Clause (1.8.3) to win votes from low-information voters, Justice Joseph Story had indicated that the specific power to regulate INTRAstate labor wages is not among Congress’s constitutional Article I, Section 8-limted powers.

Regarding Congress’s very few, constitutionally enumerated powers, note that former Arizona federal Rep. John Shadegg had proposed the Enumerated Powers Act which would have obligated Congress to justify every bill with its constitutionally enumerated powers. But the last that I heard is the bill unsurprisingly wound up in the circular file.

I say to throw Section 3 of the 14th Amendment at congressional Democrats and RINOs to remove them from office since they are always trying to bypass the Constitution’s Article V requirement for successfully petitioning the states to amend new powers for Congress to the Constitution by passing unconstitutional bills that steal state powers.

"14th Amendment, Section 3: No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same [emphasis added], or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability."

Then would you agree state taxation should also be mandated at an equal percentage?

Or do states have that authorization to determine within their own legislatures?

Walmart owns Flipcart.......a company that is exclusively used in India.

Like Amazon for India.

Of course they’re going hire Indian workers.

Calm down and do your research.

Democrats’ already fraught hopes of giving workers a major pay raise.

Does unemployment really pay that well?

Better than it should in many cases - but no, still not typically a raise.

While they’re at it, why stop at a federal minimum wage? Lets also (by EO) revert back to unreasonable epa regulations, one of the highest corp. Taxations in the world, cradle to grave entitlements demanded by the unions....and see where corporations flock to when they pull up stakes and relocate to other countries...once again to lower costs of production. Let me know how that works out.

But hey, we’ll still have $10.00 big macs right?

When they relocate to other countries due to the high cost of manufacturing here in the U.S. do you think they will be hiring $15.00 an hour imported American workers or perhaps chinese uighers?
