I was taught in medical school that coronary artery disease (CAD), or the blockages that can choke off blood flow to the heart, progresses from minor “streaks” in youth, to visible plaques young adulthood, and on to complicated plaques and major problems later in life. During my training the arrow always pointed towards heart disease advancing and never reversing. This is just not true! Indeed, for nearly 3 decades it has been known that just as arteries can worsen with time, they can also improve rapidly. Some of the measures to achieve this are presented here.
Statin Medication
While reversal of clogged heart arteries has been shown before, most of the studies actually look at other endpoints like risk of heart attack and even survival in patients with calcified arteries treated with statins. A study just published looked at a database of 13, 644 patients studied for heart artery disease by a coronary calcium CT scan and followed for over 9 years. The group was also analyzed as to whether they were on a statin medication to lower their cholesterol. As the picture above demonstrates, when the score, a measurement of how much calcium was in the heart arteries, was calculated as abnormal at 100–400, or over 400, being treated with a statin was associated with a lower risk of bad outcomes. In fact, when the calcium score was over 100, only 12 patients needed to receive a statin to prevent one event like a heart attack, stroke, or death.

Statins? Which have never found to give no overall improvement in mortality?
Besides that, the statins can cause some severe side effects.
Many of those are really small studies of under 100 participants.
I don’t see a lot of confirming studies.
Thanks to the steroids I have to take along with my chemotherapy my HDL is 91. When ever I’m on steroids, my HDL is above 70 non-fasting. That 91 was a fasting test. No steroids and it drops to the 40s.
Carbohydrates become triglycerides if not used in muscle as energy. They are then supposed to feed fat cells, if insulin is working right.
Most people with high cholesterol have high triglycerides as the biggest weight on the Total Cholesterol number.
Cholesterol is manufactured in the liver if we do not ingest at least 1,000 - 1,500 mg of cholesterol throughout the day. Recent studies show cholesterol in food has little to no bearing on blood cholesterol numbers, at least when staying below 1,000 - 1,500 mg in a day. NOTE: An egg has 200 mg of cholesterol. This new knowledge is why eggs are okay to eat again.
Vitamin K2 helps move coronary calcium back into the bones, but we need to also ingest enough calcium (and circulating Vitamin D assists).
We don’t “burn up cholesterol,” but we can get better utilized and reuse/breakdown its parts for other bodily functions.
I had an Italian client who swore by eating garlic, but for other reasons. This is the first I’ve heard of it being used to treat clogged arteries. Anyway, she passed away two months ago at the age of 96.

K2 potentiates extraction and transport of calcium deposits from soft tissues to the bones and teeth. Nattokinase dissolves fibrin deposits which contribute to formation of plaque structures in arterial walls. Natto (only in combination with Red Yeast Rice) has been found to lower blood lipids. Some variants of RYR mirror Lovastatin’s activity.

SOME Italian women do, if they eat garlic, olive oil, etc. Pelousi has been a nit in America’s hair for far too long. I expect that she’ll retire when she wants to, but the younger Commie’s she has encouraged over the years want her job.
It takes many years and a lot of money to get a dozen studies on a given item’s benefit.
What nice is that you can be your own control and choose any of the OTC options, including the diets, to prove it out, yourself.
These opportunities won’t hurt hurt you, but might truly help.
Even if we had a dozen studies on each, it we’d likely find it helped a decent majority, but not 100% of all those who would then take the therapies.
I think you might not be remembering what “red” item helped nattokinase.

Good food, a little too much sleep and more exercise than you think you “ought to be doing” is the recipe.
No less than 150mins of low intensity cardio per week, with one HIIT session and a little weight training. Or, a lot.
Depending on what your joints can handle.
But still, more than the average person thinks they ought to be doing for “over 60”.

Notice 200-260 is pretty much the flat spot. Even above 260 doesn't seem to raise the mortality rate much.
