‘Ellen’ reportedly loses sponsors, A-listers and viewers following workplace misconduct scandal

It’s been just over two months since Ellen DeGeneres returned to her daytime talk show following several accusations of workplace misconduct — including sexual harassment. According to a new report, it appears the Emmy-winning series still hasn’t recovered from the scandal.

Staffers and sources “with knowledge of the situation” recently dished to BuzzFeed News about the true state of the midday staple, claiming that the show has lost advertisers, is now struggling to book A-list guests and has seen a significant dip in ratings.

Two employees claim that the production of digital content has taken a nosedive due to a lack of advertiser funds, resulting in the series re-airing old bits. The loss of sponsors can be accredited to both the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as months of bad publicity.

...

Entertainment publicists also confessed — anonymously — that they “aren’t booking as many of their clients on the daytime talk show” as they have in the past..."they’re wary of booking their clients for the current season of ‘Ellen’ because they don’t want them to be a part of ‘her comeback tour,'” wrote reporter Krystie Lee Yandoli...One publicist admitted, “...We’re not going to align anyone with Ellen.”

...

Finally, ratings have dropped 37% compared to last season, and while ratings for syndicated talk shows are down by 19% on average, “The Ellen Show” drop is the steepest.

Evan Nierman, founder and CEO of Red Banyan, a crisis management and public relations firm, ultimately believes the funny lady will make it.

“In the end, she’s going to be OK,” Nierman said. “Did she damage her brand? Yes. Has the shine worn off a bit? And does it seem like Ellen isn’t exactly who we all thought she was on camera? Sure. But she will be just fine.”

This is very telling...viewers don't mind if Ellen is gay, but being a nasty and mean POS still is unacceptable.

And for what it's worth, being "fine" is far from acceptable for the egomaniac. I suspect Ellen is in a downward mental spiral.

Don’t lose sight of what this is really all about. She had a photo taken of her socializing with George W. Bush. That’s her crime.

The Husseins have also had their moments being pally with the Bushes, and it didn’t cost them.

I think it’s no more complicated that her majority leftist crew was treated like garbage while she would sign off the air w/ a PSA about being kind to each other. The hypocrisy was too much to take every day.

In many ways, she’s a lot like Any Klobushar who once had a staffer shave her legs. She still wins elections and communist staffers still work for her. But, they talk.

Is anyone here is surprised by the sexual harassment allegations about the self-proclaimed “Queen of Nice”?

I didn’t think so.

I knew Ellen in New Orleans while growing up. Her house was 5 blocks from mine. She liked boys then.
Entitled bitch then. Entitled bitch now.
She treats staff & production crew like servants. Most are terrified of her & hate her.

It says more about them than it does her. Why would anybody work for someone they hate and despise? There are many other jobs out there. Quitting now would be the perfect time to change jobs as everybody knows about the toxic work environment..........................

That’s what she gets for being friends with Republican president George Bush... And then trying to defend it.

How dare she suggest you can be friends with those people who are all like Hitler!

If it were only Dubya.

True, Ellen took lots of heat from the Hollyweird crowd over her sitting with Bush. But in early Dec 2019 (after the Bush lovefest) Ellen's NBC TV special was a ratings hit. Further, the stars didn't balk at working with Ellen in Dec 2019, when this was all fresh in their tiny heads.

In addition, Ellen's ratings in Nov 2020 were down 30%+ vs last Nov. If the public and Hollywood was really peeved at her, those Nov 2019 ratings would be depressed, which as noted above doesn't seem to be the case.

An added sign that Ellen's problems likely have more to do with her being a horrible person is that the Oct 2020 fourth season premiere's 0.7 share from the comic’s primetime NBC series, “Ellen’s Game of Games” was down 30% from the Season 3 premiere back on Jan. 7, 2020. The show also slipped 16% in total audience, to an average 3.6 million viewers.

No doubt, the Dubya incident hurt her with the wokey people. But Ellen's daytime show isn't supported by 1.66MM Antifa-loving twentysomethings. Indeed, I suspect most of her (former) fanbase probably LIKED that she was chums with Bush.

Thus, in terms of turn-offs for daytime TV watchers, being a rude POS ranks higher than liking Bush and being gay. That's a comfort.

Hmmm....This GWB incident needs a little elaboration. No, that incident didn’t hurt her ratings, because the Ellen Show is pretty good for what it is. What the GWB Incident did was remove a certain level of media armor that all Leftists are granted, and are allowed to keep on given certain behavior is maintained.

Put it this way, if the GWB Incident never happened, the media would have covered up/ignored/deflected any news of ‘workplace misconduct’ by Ellen Degeneres. It’s not that we don’t believe the possibility that she is a nasty person off-camera. Rather, everyone understands that the only reason this news made ‘the news’ is due to the GWB Incident.

The real question is, how long did the MSM allow Ellen Degeneres to abuse her employees? Aren’t they the real culprit?

Exactly! Ellen didn’t turn into a “monster” overnight. This is a pattern of behavior that went on for a long time. The media protected her from these “rumors”, but once she was photoed with GWB, that protection was removed. This allowed the rumors to take root and grow into the controversy it is today.
