The COVID-19 vaccine may spell the end of the pandemic, but while mass vaccination is not available it is vital to stop community transmission. The new antiviral drug MK-4482 / EIDD-2801 or Molnupiravir, has managed to suppress "completely" the transmission of the coronavirus in just 24 hours , according to studies by the Institute of Biomedical Sciences of Georgia State University.
"This is the first demonstration of an orally available drug that quickly blocks the transmission of SARS-CoV-2 , so it could be a game changer," the researchers explained in the work published in the journal Nature Microbiology .
The antiviral drug was developed at Emory University in Atlanta by the drug innovation company Drug Innovation Ventures at Emory (DRIVE), which was licensed by Ridgeback Biotherapeutics, which partnered with Merck & Co. Molnupiravir was originally designed to treat the flu and prevent the virus from making copies of itself, creating errors during viral RNA replication.
The experts detail that tests were carried out on ferrets and it was observed that they presented a reduction in the amount of viral particles. Then those ferrets were put with others that had not been treated. None of the ferrets in the second group became infected with COVID-19.
"We believe that ferrets are a relevant transmission model because they easily spread SARS-CoV-2, but for the most part they do not develop a serious disease, which is very similar to the spread of SARS-CoV-2 in young adults," he said. Dr. Robert Cox, a postdoctoral fellow in the Plemper group and co-lead author of the study.
“We observed early on that MK-4482 / EIDD-2801 has broad spectrum activity against respiratory RNA viruses and that oral treatment of infected animals with the drug reduces the amount of viral particles spread by several orders of magnitude, drastically reducing transmission. These properties made MK-4482 / EIDD / 2801 a powerful candidate for the pharmacological control of Covid-19 ”, the report adds.

If this ferret-based data is translated into humans, Covid-19 patients treated with the drug could become non-infectious within 24 hours of starting treatment.
The drug can be taken orally, and treatment can be started early for a triple potential benefit: inhibiting patients' progress to severe disease, shortening the infectious phase to alleviate the emotional and socioeconomic cost of prolonged patient isolation, and containing quickly local outbreaks.
Molnupiravir is currently in advanced phase II / III clinical trials. It is being tested in three different doses every 12 hours for five days in patients with SARS-CoV-2.
All vaccines have some side effects.
It will be interesting to see if this medication, when used on human volunteers,
has any side effects or concerns.
it’s claimed to be much much better- hopefully it lives up to it’s name, but I suspect it won’t be available here anytime soon- it would mean an end to the unconstitutional lockdowns, and liberals won’t stand for that
Thanks for the link. I had an initial protocol based on the Dr. that was giving the MedCram videos and later printed a copy of the Zelenko (sp?)protocol to compare.
I printed a 2 pg summary of the EVMS protocol and saved the links to my notes on WuHuFlu.
Thanks for the ping.
Everyday that goes by that makes more sense...
In practice it’s more like:
Put the infectious with the vulnerable. Release the guilty from prison. Put the innocent in solitary lockdown.
Whoa... getting a little cynical there null? /s
(sadly, you're right again)
Not getting, been that way since I woke up in high school...
Will it be significantly cheaper than Remdesivir which is reported to cost around $3,000 a treatment course for various insurance programs. On the other hand it appears this can be used pre hospital like Dr. Zelenko’s 3 part protocol which costs $20 for 5 days of medication.
Thanks. Printed hard copy and saved link.

Here is a youtube video of a California doctor who has had great success using HCQ, zinc, and Azithromycin or Doxycycline. Notice how he almost seems afraid to mention the zinc. And like everyone else fails to emphasize it is the zinc that kills the virus in the infected cells. The HCQ just helps the zinc get inside cells. HCQ is known as an IONOPHORE. I have heard of at least 6 ionophores that can help mobilize the virus killer ZINC. I only know of one other virus killer used successfully in this way. That is the HIV antiviral medicine Kaletra. It was used very early last Spring by the South Koreans along with HCQ to bring down their Covid infection levels very quickly. Dr. Zelenko obtained information from both Korea and France when developing his 3 part protocol.

A second very informative link is the one below listing over 200 links covering the fight by Dr. Zelenko and others to bring this low cost successful treatment to the world. It also shows the many efforts to “prove” it does NOT work, and other efforts to censor any mention of this on public media. On at least 6 occasions AOL news stories have blocked my comments discussing these treatments in a scientific way by saying I was violating their “Community Standards”. At the same time AOL was not censoring vicious, ugly comments about Trump and Biden at the same news articles.

HcQ and azithromycin was a very rough and first treatment. Clinging to this is somewhat like clinging to vinyl records. It is not as useful as later treatments.
The current and best treatment is ivermectin, doxycycline, simvastatin, Pepcid.
Hcq is probably a useful prophylactic. As for vitamin C D and zinc I have become convinced we should be taking these supplementally each day. But the repeated hammering away at ionophores and infatuation with it is not really all that relevant anymore.
For prophylaxis though,, Where to get ivermectin? Docs i think don’t like prescribing 9ff label use for prevention? Ordering from overseas is sketchy at best
Ivermectin does seem like best so far. There is spoked to be a new antiviral that is claim e d to be quite good. Can’t remember name now, begins with an m. But that seems a ways off.
Lol DOH, name of drug is subject of thread lol. Got my threads mixed up. Ugh, I’m not paying attention
bttt
If it works, it’d be better than any vaccine. We’re hearing of serious complications from the vaccine.
I decided to check the name itself on Google. I found the link below but did not have time to read the comments. When I went back later I found this message. “Sorry, this post has been removed by the moderators of r/worldnews.
Moderators remove posts from feeds for a variety of reasons, including keeping communities safe, civil, and true to their purpose.” I don’t know if this was censorship or if they felt the headline did not match the data. The title said it “completely” stopped the virus in 24 hours. It did not include that this was solely based on ferrit’s exposure. The Comments are still there though.

I agree, but think of all the poor Big Pharma employees and stockholders who wouldn’t be able to get a lot richer. /s
