Sunbeam Products is recalling almost a million crockpots sold by retailers including Amazon, Target and Walmart after roughly 100 consumers were burned — some seriously — when the lids blew off in use, spewing hot food and liquid.
The recalled Crock-Pot multi-cooker can pressurize when the lid is not fully locked, causing the lid to suddenly come off in use, posing burn risks to consumers from spewing hot food and liquids, according to a notice posted by the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission.
Sunbeam has received 119 reports of lids detaching, resulting in 99 injuries ranging in severity from first-degree to third-degree burns, the Boca Raton, Florida-based company said.

That is dangerous. My mother-in-law was canning vegetables and somehow the lid of the cooker blew off when she was right over it, spewing very hot water all over her face.
She had to go to the hospital for the burns.

I made My living for 12 years in the Auto Repair world on high end cars Jaguar, Rolls Royce and others. In all that time I only had one "come back", I did a Major Service (30K miles) on an XJ6 Jaguar and missed the final torque on all 6 sparkplugs. None of them blew out of the hole but all came loose and the Customer could hear the compression leaking and realized what it was and had tools in the car to torque them down.
The next time He came in He told Me about it. I was CRUSHED/PISSED AT MYSELF for years. Every time I think of it I kick Myself a few hundred more times. He was one of the best Customers I had and kept telling Me to not worry about it. I couldn't. I gave Him 10 hours credit on Labor on His next Bill and I still was pissed at Myself.
It could have been a lot worse like blowing out of the hole, stripping the aluminum cylinder head and punching holes in the Bonnet (hood).

I just left NW GA/TN. They routinely overfill engine oil and transmission fluid, cause more is better, I guess. It’s not! I did not just pay you to Fu*k up my engine and transmission. The reasons why varied. Very sad!!
I will not buy stove pans with glass lids as I have read how they can shatter. I saw a video of a pyrex dish that shattered at a dinner table. The comments there were that Corning changed the formula for the glass and it was not as good anymore.
Actually He was a Really cool guy. He owned a Trucking Company. His Wife’s 280Z had been to 3 or 4 other places and nobody could figure out the Head Gasket was blown internally.
They threw Tune ups, F.I. Sensors, etc. The last place tried to sell Him a new ECU for like $2200.00 or something ridicules.
I went to His house and looked at the oil & water and they were both intermixed. Didn’t even need to do a Compression Test.
I fixed it. His Wife was HAPPY so He was happy. We All konw if Mama is not happy ten nobody is gonna be happy.
