It’s 2038? How did the 2020 election turn out, I missed it.
It’s 2038 already??? Damn, I should have retired by now!
75 years ago my mother was still in grade school.
My father told me that he was in his Senior year at Essex Catholic High School in Newark, NJ, at the time one of the largest schools in the state (all boys to boot). He was in religion class when one of the IC Brothers opened the door ran into the room and said “the President has been shot!” My dad told me, however, that he personally had a bigger shock when Oswald was shot while in police custody.
My mother is one of the few people who doesn’t have clear memories of where she was when it was announced. She does remember female neighbors crying. I find it amazing that anyone would cry over the death of a president.
57 or 75 years ago? Pulling out gray hair.
Well, it wasn’t ‘75 years ago’; but they announced what had happened, closed school and sent us home early. It was a very grey day, and a little kid felt as if they’d fallen into an alternate universe.
Sort of like the past couple of weeks.
I’m 62. Here’s a sobering thought. I’ve been alive in eight decades. Well, assuming I make it to New Years’ to be precise. Thanks for making me feel like the old fart I am.
Now I do believe that the FBI actually did it and framed Oswald in order to put their first pick LBJ in power.
I also believe the FBI is behind this coup
I was 4 days old....but Im level 57...lol
Rolling around in my dads nutsack
Married, one daughter, in Mississippi in the Air Force, shocked at the Kennedy assassination.
Serious answer: I was a first-grader, lining up from lunchtime recess, teacher with a sad face ushered us quickly into the classroom, heard the announcement over the speaker.
I was in 8th grade in New Orleans, a Protestant in a Catholic grade school, and of course a heavily Catholic area. The nuns were completely emotionally slain. The school buses quickly pulled up and everyone went home. I didn’t really get it that my Mom was crying and inconsolable—I questioned it and she thought I was an emotionless little $hit. Maybe so; I still have all the newspaper clippings. The Times-Picayune had lots of info on Oswald and his Mom since they were Orleanians. Not to get into the whole conspiracy thing, but later in life I stood directly under “the window” of the School Book Depository, looked at the marker down the street, and thought “this was just NOT a tough shot”, especially with a scope, I don’t care what other “experts” have said. I qualified expert while in the USAF.
Learning to walk and wolfing down the Gerber.
Ok, so you meant 57! American history class, junior year of high school, large multicultural public urban high school. A class of ‘64 clown, who had a dark sense of humor, entered our classroom in the middle of the class and announced that the president had been shot. The first reaction was that none of us believed him. School was dismissed early. The bus stops and buses were filled with crying students, as were all the pedestrian routes home.
Get a grip!
Get a grip!
75 years ago, I was posting on FR after reading Abraham Lincoln’s tweet of not believing everything on the internet.
My Dad didn't think too highly of JFK.
