Every time an American looked at an item for where it was made in it came from China. Now China’s reliance making everything was being threatened by a change in leadership in America which was a major consumer of those products. When Americans hailed their leaders decision to make many of them in their country US. Their politburo worried.

Worse yet opponents to the Chinese regime in power had its citizens protesting its policies , as in Hong Kong, since that change in American leadership wave the American flag and present Trump’s name when doing so. All of which presented those in power the need to destroy that leader Donald Trump.

Would a runaway plague created by a nation which could threaten populations of an enemy cause them to react by demanding extreme restriction of movement by its population to prevent its spread ? Thus wind up fragmenting its economy and create defeat for that leader’s upcoming election. Which if the courts back off and Trump loses proves it worked

Thanks. Big business runs not only the USA, but the world, and they aren’t moving their factories out of China until the law requires it.

We had momentum for that when the CV-19 crisis first began but it has since been lost.

Since business likes the Chinese slave labor model, they want to export it to everywhere else, including here.

The lockdowns are an attempt to move us under that type of oppressive rule.

Omgosh. I really like this site! Just learned another trivia tidbit. LOL

Pure speculation on my part: I think the lawfirm is embarrassed by the bad PR, so it is withdrawing.

He is very much a traditional Republican. I am not. Not all of those traditional Republicans like President Trump. However, most understand that if Dems can just stuff the ballot box like they did, out democratic republic is over.

He was never my buddy years ago, nor my rival in any way. We were quite different. He was always a bit of character. His comments to the lawyers giving them recommendations where to eat and drink are very much they guy I knew years ago. Lastly, he was obviously heterosexual.

So the Judge called it a harrassing call. Law firm claims rogue employee didnt know they were involved in the case..so he just decides to harass an attorney.

I think he should be fired. Probably wont be but having an employee who can embarrass your firm like this is just waiting for another rogue incident.

My take on it is that yes Linda Kerns is getting hundreds of harassing phone calls and emails, and then one lawyer from Kirkland & Ellis LLP sent an email mocking her as well. That would happen to any lawyer in a high profile case. Doing the right thing frequently isn’t popular. In this case the remedy requested is quite drastic, stopping certification of the election and voiding hundreds of thousands of dubious mail-in ballots, and that leads to ridicule. Perhaps the guy who sent it didn’t know his firm was involved in the case. Maybe the guy is just a natural A-hole. Many lawyers are arrogant like that. Call me sexist, but I think a male attorney would have just shot back a response to the effect of “Eff-you too. See you in court!” No one would care. Here, because the attorney is a woman she needs to make a formal complaint to the court.

Judge Brann knows he has a serious case before him that will go to SCOTUS, and he doesn’t have time to be keeping order in the nursery. Really, any violations of PA’s rules of attorney conduct should be decided by the PA Supreme Court’s attorney disciplinary board. It’s their role to police things like that if that guy crossed the line somehow.

The larger scandal to me was that the President of the United States couldn’t get a major law firm in the Commonwealth to represent him in a case that goes to the fundamental foundation of the nation, free and fair elections. In theory a client is entitled to zealous representation in our judicial system. In practice, few individuals get that from their lawyers. “Zealous representation” is just a facade that the legal profession uses to protect corporations and the powerful against ordinary people. Giuliani had to take over the case because local counsel were all afraid of repercussions from calling out the PA Supreme Court for denying POTUS a fair election and the equal protection of the law to his supporters. That is what is shocking, not some arrogant A-hole at Kirkland & Ellis LLP writing a private email to mock a sole practitioner.

Trump is radioactive at this point for a variety of reasons. It saddens me. There is a legitimate Con Law issue in PA.

I wonder, too. I don’t know if it is money issues or no one thought to do it. Just seems odd.

There is a legitimate Con Law issue in PA.

The issue is a flagarant violation of the equal protection clause, and more importantly, the remedy to the problem which is drastic. Remember in 2000 SCOTUS voted 7-2 that the equal protection clause was violated, but it was the remedy of shutting down the recount that was decided sharply 5-4.

My explanation for that is that so far, they are selectively forum shopping for the right judge to hear the case. There are also abstention issues raised as well, that these cases should be heard in state court first. Judges are always looking for creative ways to clear their dockets and get it off their desks, especially with civil rights cases. In GA, they may prefer to litigate in state court, especially if they can't guarantee themselves a receptive federal judge. A hostile judge could just refuse to believe the affidavits and wreck their case. That is to be avoided at all costs.
