Just think, if the Lee/Harris S.386, “Make The United States into India” bill would have passed years ago, none of this would have been possible.

“So maybe it’s not idiotic or ridiculous after all.”
Indeed it is. That does not negate the benefits of his ridiculous obsession. These benefits are incalculable. Mars is not a remedy to what Ailes us on earth. One, Mars is far closer to the Sun than Earth.
So, when the one day when the Sun begins to expand Mars will be a victim before well the earth. So, what is the benefit there?
The answer, there is none. The entire concept is ludicrous. But, again, his ludicrous obsession has it’s benefits.

[ If he had an inertial damper/gravity shield generator, he wouldn’t be building rockets at all. :^) The switch to stainless came from a structural integrity issue and the heat of reentry. ]

He might to get the tech “under the radar” ...

Same here, easily in my top ten YTers. He hasn't mentioned his lawyer wife in a long time, that I've seen anyway.

One, Mars is far closer to the Sun than Earth. [sic!]

So, when the one day when [Huh?!] the Sun begins to expand [...]

That will be in about 5 billion years.

[...] Mars will be a victim before well [Huh?! I think you mean: "well before"] the earth.

False premiss - > faulty conclusion.

The entire concept is ludicrous. But, again, his ludicrous obsession has it’s [sic! Should be "its"] benefits.

You are amazing! You obviously understand much more about the subject of Astronomy and Astrophysics than all the scientists Musk employs!

I could just sit here all day and listen to your drivel! It's really very entertaining!

Regards,

Musk is an unusually creative and bright guy. What if Starlink isn’t actually for delivery of WiFi? What if it’s actually a fulfillment of Tesla’s desire to deliver power wirelessly. The first step would be to have the distribution nodes in place.

Thanks for posting and for the ping. :)

I was glad to hear Elon setting a goal for the first Mars colony to be self-sustaining without the need for resupply ships from the earth. IMO another goal should be an ability to return viable couples to the homeworld for re-population purposes.

I watched the starship burner test in Bocha Chica in the wee hours this morning. Appeared to be successful.

It was interesting to hear him say, finally, that Mars colony's self-sustaining capability won't be during his own lifetime.
