How to live longer: A juice known to slow down the ageing process to boost longevity

HOW TO live longer could be as simple as pouring yourself a delicious juice. According to science, drinking this red juice helps to slow down the ageing process, increasing one's lifespan. How?

All our cells are filled with small energy generators called mitochondria - but when mitochondria become old, they become less-efficient, and even possibly toxic.

Old mitochondria are recycled by the cell into new mitochondria - and this, in turn, is mitophagy.

With age, this recycling progress slows down which can lead to muscle weakness.

Scientists have discovered pomegranates contain a substance called urolithin A.

This is the first and only known compound that can re-establish mitochondria.

It is a fact of life that skeletal muscles begin to lose strength and mass once a person reaches the age of 50, said Medical Xpress.

The health site added: “A recent clinical trial involving two EPFL entities—spin-off Amazentis and the Laboratory of Integrative Systems Physiology (LISP) – showed that urolithin A, a compound derived from biomolecules found in fruits such as pomegranates, could slow down this process by improving the functioning of mitochondria—the cells' powerhouses.

“Therefore, Urolithin A, a metabolite of biomolecules found in pomegranates and other fruits, could help slow the aging processes.”

In a study published in Life Extension, pomegranates and how they can help boost longevity was investigated.

The study noted: “Researchers first studied Urolithin A on a common worm called C. elegans.

“This worm is often used in anti-aging studies because after just eight to 10 days it’s considered elderly.

“Its short lifespan allows scientists to observe and measure the effects of aging in a little over a week.

“The researchers administered urolithin A to a group of these worms and noted that lifespan in the urolithin A group increased by more than 45 percent compared to the control group.

“Next, the team performed several rodent studies and found that urolithin A improved muscle function and removed damaged mitochondria before they accumulate and cause cellular dysfunction throughout the body.

“Scientists know that with age, mitochondria lose their strength and die off thereby 'clogging up' cells with debris that impedes their function.”

The red rich fruit is known to be one of the healthiest for a reason. It is called as a divine fruit because it is the most mentioned fruit in theological books.

Pomegranate has antioxidant, anti-viral and anti-tumour properties and is said to be a good source of vitamins, especially vitamin A, vitamin C, and vitamin E, as well as folic acid.

These properties are said to help with the ageing process and to boost longevity.

I can’t afford snake oil. Do you know how many snakes you have to squeeze to get an ounce?

Here I was thinking Liberal Tears was the drink that would make you live longer.

Well at least it isn’t HerbaLife or Colloidal Silver.

PT Barnum was right BTW.

You are not allowed to like things that are good for you. It is a law of nature.

Cruciferous vegetables for example. No one is officially allowed to like them. (I do love my sprouts)

And the Sunday morning awards for most cynical FR members goes to thestickman and 4runner :)

Just talking about a health advantage of it guys.

I don’t think NickCarraway is involved in the pomegranate juice selling business.

And from the thread title..”A juice known to slow the aging process”, did you think you were gonna read about the Pence/Harris debate?

No. You opened it because you were intested.

Or incredibly bored.

I did it for both reasons :)

buongiorno!
