An 80-year-old man, a retired steelworker from Pittsburgh, died after he confronted a bar patron who wouldnt wear a mask, according to KDKA CBS 2.
The District Attorney believes Rocco is the first person to die in the U.S. because of a physical altercation over wearing a mask.
The death of Rocco Sapienza is being investigated as a homicide. In a report by WKBW ABC7 in Buffalo, the incident took place at Pamps Red Zone Bar and Grill in West Seneca, New York, on Sept. 26. The Erie County District Attorneys Office in New York says Sapienza got into an argument with 65-year-old Donald Lewinski, who was not wearing a mask.

Sapienza noticed that Lewinski was not wearing a face covering whenever he took buckets of beer to a band that was performing outside. Later when Sapienza confronted Lewinski, the 65-year-old stood up and pushed Sapienza with both hands, causing Sapienza to fall backward, hitting his head on the ground.
Sapienza died Oct. 1 from head trauma after being in a coma following the incident. Cause of death was determined to be blunt force trauma to the head.
Sapienzas family in Pittsburgh is remembering him as a Marine who stood up for the little guy.
He wasnt afraid to call somebody out for being stupid, for acting stupid. If you knew my father, thats the kind of guy he was. And my father could hold a conversation with anybody, he was a very friendly man, said Richard Sapienza.
While this may be the first death from such a confrontation, there have been many arguments and violent acts associated with this controversial subject. A man pointed a gun at a woman in a Cambria Township Walmart earlier this year for not wearing her mask.
In late September in Logan, Ohio, a woman was tased by a school resource officer for resisting arrest after refusing to leave a middle school football game when she wasnt wearing her mask.
And in August, a woman took her frustrations out on store goods when she was asked to wear a mask at a Dauphin County convenience store.
He should have called himself out first.
I had one guy walk all the way across the grocery store to argue with me about not wearing a mask. When he got close, I asked him why he was violating my social distancing space. He had no response to me and left muttering in anger.
It is unfortunate that someone died here.
As a former active duty Marine, I would have to point out to the deceased that it was not his responsibility to enforce the unconstitutional mandates of the governor and his pervert secretary of health.
And also that at 80, he probably didnt have the juice and stamina he had at 70, or 60, or 40.
Unfortunate all the way around.
Hard to argue with your post.
More proof that our society is nuts.
I’m very sorry about this man’s death. What an incredibly stupid incident. I suppose alcohol added to it.
A hill he was willing to die on, due to the thorough brain washing he’s been thru the last few months. I’m with the beer guy.
Good observations.

Was Lewinski outside unmasked ?
Dead guy hit his head on the groundnut the floor ?
If so makes the dead guy a bigger jerk and possibly a trouble maker.
Yep, unfortunate outcome. The deceaseds family said he stood up for the little guy.
I submit that the shover also stood up for the little guy.
If the deceased marine felt the non Mask wearer made things unsafe(spit) he should have removed himself.
Like the government psa.says STAY HOME, SAVE LIVES. Right?
I think a masked zealot seeing someone living normally and happily without one realizes that, being self-muzzled, he is no longer free and becomes even more angry, more distrustful and more pathetically depressed than he usually is while obeying his “betters”.
I had this happen when I was standing in line OUTSIDE at Costco, we were all socially distanced OUTSIDE standing in line waiting to get into the store this woman comes ripping across the parking lot got in my face SCREAMING at me about my not wearing a mask!! I said the same damn thing to her I WAS socially distanced until you came running over here in my space OMG everyone in line started clapping for me!! These people are INSANE!!!
Also, I seem to recall a black man was shot and killed, maybe Michigan? As a worker in a dollar strode for asking someone to wear a mask.
Why can’t people just mind their own business about these masks? It’s out of control.
Maybe wait until all the details are out before throwing shade on someone?
I asked him why he was violating my social distancing space. He had no response to me and left muttering in anger.
I like that. Going to use it. I usually just tell people I have no symptoms and I am healthy. Non contagious. Yeah science.
I bet he said something like, “Look fat. Do you want to have a pushup contest”, right before the guy shoved him to the ground.
Amen!
The “rules” are to social distance. If you can’t social distance then wear a mask. I see hikers here in colorado out on hiking trails with no one around wearing their masks. These people have been so freaked out by Fauci and the media.
This 80 yo man acting like a feminist.
