Washington (CNN) Former Vice President Joe Biden made false claims in a Sunday speech in which he urged Senate Republicans to let the winner of the presidential election fill the Supreme Court vacancy left by the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on Friday.
We're still poring over the transcript of Biden's address in Philadelphia, but here are two initial fact checks.
The Trump campaign's demand for a list Biden argued that it would be inappropriate for him to release a list of prospective Supreme Court nominees, as Trump did during the 2016 campaign and did again this month.
Biden also claimed that the Trump campaign had not asked him to release such a list until after Ginsburg died.
"We can't keep rewriting history, scrambling norms, ignoring our cherished system of checks and balances. That includes this whole business of releasing a list of potential nominees that I would put forward. They're now saying, after they -- after Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away, they said, 'Biden should release his list.' It's no wonder the Trump campaign asked that I release the list only after she passed away. It's a game for them. It's a play to gin up emotions and anger," he said.

However, if Trump had said something like that it would count as lies, for Biden it’s gaffes, false claims and inaccurate.

At this point, I would entertain that notion.

That is a strange, convenient logic. Trump was the winner of the presidential election in 2016, elected by the American people, partly because of his promises regarding staffing the Supreme Court. Why should that election be invalid for that purpose now? The Constitution, and historical precedent, knows of no such absurdity.
While Joe is “confused”, but let’s assume it is true. So what Joe!

My personal fact check: This is 100% true in theory. It is 100% false when it comes to Democrats and Biden.

My thoughts exactly. I was stunned, not in the fact that Biden once again uttered nonsense and gibberish, but in the very fact that CNN would actually report this.

Probably want to get their hands on more advertising $$$ after the reports of his campaign having abundant cash.
“Pay up and maybe we won’t have to run more stories like this.”
Maybe there is an FCC rule that a cable channel has to report the factual truth about a Democrat once per decade to keep its license.
