My entire family is in Iowa. My sister says the State is reporting likely 40-45% of the corn crop will have to just be tilled under. The soybean crop didn’t fair very well either with a lot of stripped leaves, it’ll be a low yield year.

Not a problem.
According to BLM, all food comes from Evil Capitalist Grocery Stores, magically produced by refrigerated storage units.
Corn fields are just for movie backdrops.

Remember folks, we used to have 3 year grain reserve to help us in lean years. Now if we don’t use the last bushel of old crop the day before the new crop comes in, we screwed up.

No worries. The Federal govt will buy non-existent crops too.

Went through a derecho in Virginia a few years ago. Unbelievable. Hardly a way to describe it properly, it's an instant hurricane that comes on unexpected, lasts a couple hours, and leaves hurricane destruction in its wake. It is composed of extremely powerful straight line winds. It covers an area much, much broader than a tornado. The two are not really comparable. I was without power for a week.

2.536% of the expected crop.
Unlucky involved individuals will take big hits, but the rest of us will be fine.

We get good old-fashioned tornadoes in Wisconsin, but they seem to be fewer and farther apart, which is good.
Our worst in recent memory was in the town over from me, Barneveld, WI.
A tornado ripped through Barneveld in the middle of the night on June 8, 1984. In the morning light, it became visible that most of the town had been demolished.
A friend was the Banker in town. All that was left of his bank was the safe, but it was still locked! He opened a 'bank' out of his car for a while, there.

That was one really weird movie. Very creepy even by Steven King standards.

Just curious why my post was removed.
It was a reference to the movie Field of Dreams.
Nothing racist or offensive about it so far as I know.
