I think possibly the best way to estimate/check what is being reported is to examine a comparison of deaths from all cause in prior year to deaths in 2020.

Before mid‐March, overall U.S. deaths were trending at a level no different from recent years at between 55‐60,000 per week.
Beginning in the week ending on March 28, all;cause deaths began rising sharply, peaking in the week ending April 11 at around 75,000, or 137% of Expected Deaths for the week. Immediately thereafter, all-caused deaths began dropping sharply.
Within five weeks, all‐cause deaths were back to their typical range. By the week ending May 16, the measurable pandemic death impact had ended even though Covid19;related deaths most certainly had not.
At least in this ;week period, the Covid19 pandemic was considerably worse than a typical flu season. To the extent that all;cause deaths fell back to expected levels during May, the excess mortality attributable to the pandemic has passed.
Many states actually saw lower than expected deaths during the period. To be sure, an excess death rate of 5% for the entire U.S. is considerable but also far short of the apocalyptic narrative the pandemic has received.

Less stringent lockdown policies were not associated with higher death rates.

Some one jumped on that like a yard-dog and the more I tried to explain, the more strident it became-because the guy sounded entirely credible. Like as long as they sound credible, that means it’s truth. Even with all the confusion it’s a certainty? SMH-what I get for going off thread!

If they (Wisc. Supreme Court - cause that’s where this is going) decide it’s 16, he skates on everything.
If not, regardless of anything else, I think Kyle gets whacked for a misdemeanor under this statute for not being 18.

The scene on Tuesday night was something I had only seen in photos of war-torn countries. Men and women stood with baseball bats, hand-guns, semi-automatic rifles, and shotguns in front of their businesses and homes.
Kenosha, Wisconsin is situated in the southern part of the state, about an hour and a half from Chicago, and has a population of approximately 100,000. Republican Rep. Bryan Steil, who represents Kenosha in Wisconsin’s First Congressional district, told The Federalist the city “is like a lot of cities in Wisconsin.” Steil says Kenosha is “family-centered” and “hard-working.”
Kenosha became a very different place after police shot Jacob Blake in the back seven times. Subsequent video footage showed that Blake was armed with a knife and had been wrestling with officers, threw off a Taser, and was disregarding police commands to stop after they were called to address a domestic violence complaint. moar..

Kyle did nothing wrong.
In the video he said he always acted legally, including buying his own baseball tickets. He claimed he never asked for a quid pro quo for a campaign donation nor did he threaten anyone. He said the charges for which he stood trial were false and that the prosecutors and/or judges were corrupt. He was put in the general population with serious felons. He estimated that only about 2% of them were white collar criminals. These weren't his words, but the rest of them were the "Group W" mentioned in Alice's Restaurant: mother-rapers, father-stabbers, father-rapers, etc.
He comes across as very likable, and I want to believe him. I guess I have to lean on POTUS -- I'm sure Rod's case was thoroughly checked out before President Trump commuted his sentence.
To be honest, I am a tiny bit concerned about the last two days, which are showing a hint of possibly flattening the rate of decline.
Another alarm bell is that Italy seems to be possibly turning higher again, after they were all but rid of cases.
But that viciousness is still cause for concern. They will try ANYTHING.
