You couldn't have just left it there? Go play on the freeway, kid!)
I think there’s just too many people in the northern hemisphere and it’s causing the Earth to tip over...

The spectrum of sunlight is centered on yellow due to its surface temperature. But yellow is much closer to white than it is to black. Thus the lighter portions of the spectrum are much more strongly represented in sunlight than the darker, more oppressed colors - a clear example of systemic racism and WHITE SUPREMACY!
"Yeah, you'd think that backyard astrophotographers with polar mounts would have said something by now.
Yeah-- and all those folks doing celestial navigation would have been winding up in some strange places, too...
Besides, "Stellarium" still shows Polaris near the center of its equatorial grid.

There is no “edge” but a circular wall of ice, which Magellan just followed, so they say.
I find all of this stuff very curious. I don’t believe the earth is flat, but I don’t disbelieve it, either. It’s weird.
Do you ‘figure’ if you dig deep enough you will end up in China?
Or
You can go to the sun if you go at night?
Have you ever crossed an ‘imaginary’ line and lost a day?
But
On the way back you pick it up again?
(Yes, I have)
Just askin/sayin. <; <: <:
You asked: Then why doesnt this happen at the south pole, or Antarctica?
ANS - it DOES. It is just that things are ‘flipped’. For the winter solstice (around Dec. 21) - above the Arctic Circle - the sun never rises (perpetual night). AND - below the Antarctic Circle - the sun never sets (Land of the Midnight Sun in the Southern Hemisphere.)
AND- we see the reverse - Summer Solstice - around June 21 - we see above the Arctic Circle - Land of the midnight sun.....and below the Antarctic Circle - Land of perpetual night - no sun rising.
I just put a couple of bricks under one leg of the Celestron’s tripod to compensate. More than two, though, and I’ll have to give up the hobby as the whole thing will tip over.

No.
This is absurd! Everything is where it usually is in the sky. This would be a HUGE headline on every paper in the world - conservative and commie.
It would take a incredible amount of energy to make the earth to rotate 1200 miles.
Hoax or early April Fools! < br>

Yes. Where I live, the sun sets at about 5 pm at the first day of winter. Every year, year after year, after year. A 1200 mile shift would make a very noticiable change in that time. Also the oceans would have to raise a huge amount in some places, would fall a huge amount in others.
Ah, hah! That 1.2 meter is 1200 centimeters, NOT 1200 miles! A mile is about 160,000 times larger than a centimeter! Just a bit different.

You are talking about a 1.2 meter change in the position of the north pole.
The article is discussing a change in the tropics of Cancer and Capricorn. (The location of which which both change over time....)

Tropic of Cancer
“The Tropic of Cancer lies at latitude 23.50 on the north of the equator and runs through several countries in three continents including Africa, Asia, and Europe. The tropic is among the circles of latitude that are used to mark maps of the globe and its position is dictated by the Earth’s axis tilt in relation to the plane of its orbit. When it was named 2000 years ago, the sun was in the constellation Cancer at June Solstice. However, today the sun is at Taurus during the June solstice. The word “tropic” is a Greek word meaning turn or change direction just as the sun does at the solstice.
Geography And Climate Of The Tropic of Cancer
>>>>>>The position of the Tropic of Cancer is flexible. In fact, the position changes in a complex manner over time.>>>> Currently, the position of Tropic of Cancer drifts south at the rate of almost half an arcsecond of latitude per year. The north of the Tropic of Cancer is the Subtropics and the North Temperate Zone. The Tropic of Cancer passes through 16 countries including seven countries in Africa and seven countries in Asia. It also passes through the Red Sea, Indian Ocean, Pacific Ocean, Philippine Sea, Gulf of California, and the Atlantic Ocean. The climate of the Tropic of Cancer is generally hot and dry except the easternmost coastal areas where heavy orographic rainfall can occur. Most of the regions of the tropic experience two distinct seasons, extremely hot summer with temperatures averaging 45 degrees C and warm winter with average temperature 22 degrees C. Much of the land in the region is part Sahara Desert while the eastern part is characterized by a torrid monsoonal climate. The highest mountain on the Tropic of Cancer is Mount Yushan located in Taiwan.
Significance Of The Tropic of Cancer
The Tropic of Cancer divides the Earth into several parts for navigation and marking of the northern boundary of the tropics. It is also significant to the Earth’s radiation and formation of the different seasons. Solar insolation is the quantity of solar radiation coming into the Earth. During June solstice, the amount of solar radiation is greatest at the Tropic of Cancer causing the areas around the north of the tropic in the northern hemisphere to be exposed to more solar energy. The solar insolation in the area keeps it warm and creates summer.

Did anyone have trouble opening ANY of these links at the top of the post? I couldn't get into them last night and I can't get in right now.
"divulgence.net"
"Normal Axis tilt 23.5 degrees"
"Current Axis Tilt & new Tropic lines"
I was commenting this at the top of the post: "Based on the current position of the sun at the point where it rises and sets behind the horizon, the current angle indicates the original 23.5 degree axis tilt has shifted the sun 1200 miles farther north"
I have NEVER been able to what is in those links, so I should never have made a comment. Have you been able to get into those links? (I have had not any trouble opening the other hundred or so links I probably open every day.)
A number of posters assumed that it was saying the axis was changing by a large amount.
