The federal government has denied Gov. Tim Walz's request for aid to help rebuild and repair Twin Cities structures that were damaged in the unrest following George Floyd's death.
Walz asked President Donald Trump to declare a "major disaster" for the state of Minnesota in his request to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) on July 2. More than 1,500 buildings were damaged by fires, looting and vandalism in the days of unrest that followed Floyd's May 25 death in Minneapolis police custody, racking up more than $500 million in damages, according to Walz.
The governor's spokesman, Teddy Tschann, confirmed late Friday that the request for federal aid was denied.
"The Governor is disappointed that the federal government declined his request for financial support," Tschann said in a statement. "As we navigate one of the most difficult periods in our state's history, we look for support from our federal government to help us through."
Many small businesses and grocery stores, pharmacies and post offices were damaged during the unrest. In his letter to FEMA, Walz said what happened in the Twin Cities after Floyd's death was the second most destructive incident of civil unrest in U.S. history, after the 1992 riots in Los Angeles.

You’re the one who “gave them room to destroy.”
You’re the one who gets to undestroy.
You had your police stand down.
You actively supported the rioting and the looting.
Worse, you now have the cities that were decimated defunding their police in the name of communism, meaning this WILL happen again.
No money for you until you can show you’re responsible for it.
Because right now governor, you’re just a child.
Make it a sanctuary City and give everyone one acre
Bill it to BLM.
No. Go pound sand. You facilitated the riots because you agree with them that the USA is a rotten place. Not a cent for you!.
Send the bill to the DNC and BLM.
Hi governor Walz.
May I suggest asking Antifa, BLM and the communists for the money?
I crack me up.
5.56mm
Some would say that the lefties were doing what comes natural to them. That makes it a natural disaster, hence the plea for aid.
The President has demonstrated self-control and insight by allowing the cities and states to damage themselves. Federalism in action.
There will be some voters in these locales who love this carnage, but there are others who are alarmed and ready to show up at the voting booth and the self defense store.
The catalyst was the event by a police department owned, trained, and operated for at least 50 years by Democrats. The result was a collaboration of our Democrat-child mayor, the militant wing of the Democrat Party and Governor Walz. Mayor Frey and Governor Walz encouraged the rioting for at least three days.
A vote for a Democrat is a vote for chaos and destruction.
The governor should be personally liable for damages to private property given his complete abrogation of his duties during the riots.
Time to start building walls around all the liberal infestations. Start with Minneapolis, then NYC, LA, Chicago...
...
George Soros and hollywood have lots of money, he can call them up.
Maybe you shouldn’t have allowed the Mayor to order the cops to stand down.
I remember when President Trump came to Minneapolistan for a rally a year or two ago. He was treated like dirt by the mayor and governor.
After the rally the mayor made a big deal about how Trump still owes the city a half million dollars for security.
Pure lies but he kept at it.
Payback sucks.
“we look for support from our federal government to help us through”
And the people of Minnesota expected help from their state which was ignored by governor Tim Walz.
The people of Minneapolis expected help from their mayor Jacob Frey who ordered the cops to flee from their precinct and allow the rioters to destroy the city. IT WAS ALLOWED!
Now this Bozo has the nerve to demand that WE give HIM money to repair the damage that he and Frey allowed to happen.
BIG FINGER FU!
Do stupid shit, expect bad results.
Sucks to be you Wally.
The letter denying federal aid to Mogedeshusota was signed by the assistant director of FEMA for finance, Fook E Ooh.
