Video posted on Facebook over the weekend of a womans interaction with an Assateague wild pony is getting a lot of attentionand serves as a reminder that the island belongs to the ponies.
The footage shows a pony nosing for food on a beach blanket with beachgoers nearby at Assateague Island National Seashore. A woman walks up behind the pony and hits it with a shovel, in what appears to be an attempt to shoo it away. When the pony is hit, it kicks the woman from behind. She does not appear to be seriously injured.
The video went up on the People of the Ocean City Boardwalk Facebook page (a group with nearly 45,000 followers) on Saturday and has been shared 4,000 times. Watch below:

LOL...as soon as she is down, another adult pony and a foal move in for the eats.
I hope it Schitt on her beach blanket for good measure
I’m for the ponies. Glad they ganged up on this idiot.
She should have learned not to come at a horses behind
Thanks for sharing.
My Daughter has the book “Misty of Chincoteague”. We have also seen two different movies of the same title. All pretty good.
I don’t which beach has fatter shameless people with shirts off or in skimpy bathing suits.
Ocean City or Lewes...
Why would anybody come here if they had a pony? Who leaves a country packed with ponies to come to a non-pony country? It doesn’t make sense.. am I wrong?
I read that in fourth grade, a looooooong time ago. One of a few books I remember from then.
It’s Karen v. Karen!
Like the wild bison that attacked the lady in Yellowstone today!
I think part of the problem is that people break the law and feed these ponies, so the animals have come to associate people with food instead of avoiding humans.
Did it even make contact? Looked like she fell backwards.
I watched it slowed down. She's lucky she fell. The kick went over her leg. No contact.
Too bad more people dont have some horse lessons.
Never get behind a horse. First lesson in riding school.
Animals are just awaiting their chance to eliminate humans. They know we’re weakened by the virus. Soon they will come in for the kill.
