As I said in another thread, I don’t think this is a bad idea.
The names were part of a reconciliation effort when the north defeated the south, and we became one nation again.
We are reconciled. No southern state is going to secede now over this. No one who is alive today fought in that war, or knew people who died in the war.
Now, you might say “but people in the south today still remember the horrors inflicted by the north against us”. That may be true, but if you think that deserves “reconciliation”, then you can not rationally argue that blacks today don’t deserve “reconciliation” for slavery, which was similarly ended at the end of the civil war.
If we truly believe that names should be chosen for reconciliation, then the need for race reconciliation today is definitely more pressing than the need to reconcile the union and the confederacy.
If you don’t think we need names for reconciliation, then you should not argue that the names need to stay because they were done for reconciliation.
I know people strongly disagree with this, and I’m not going to argue with you, or say your beliefs are not valid or do not deserve consideration. I know more people hate the idea of giving in to a violent mob, to which I’ll say that our entire form of government, and the history of the world, is basically how people hwo have property, wealth, and status work to make sure that those who don’t never get mad enough to revolt.
In the US, we did that by free elections, by capitalism, giving every person the opportunity to BECOME the property-owning wealthy status person.
But that only works if your vast majority agrees they have that opportunity. When they don’t, you can either scream at them for being stupid, or you can realize that, if everybody riots and loots, we don’t have enough police or military to effectively stop them, and if you have to arrest too many people, you will tip the scales against you.

We are in a Mediacracy, and revolting against it. That is what President Trump is doing.
The current fracus is not a revolt against the establishment. It is the establishment attempting to prevent the success of the Trumpian revolt.
What helped to bring this about is the belief that the honor bestowed from naming forts after famous Confederate generals would be perpetual.
To take it away now is effectively asking the nation to break it's implied word that the designation was permanent.

They are not asking for reparation by this. They are asking for all the bend the knee to extortion, and sadly too many are happy to do so.

What is infuriating is that once again, the lying party of historical racism, MASSIVE CORRUPTION, and horror(Democrat party), is making this proposal only to cover up the racist statement of their presidential candidate "You aint black" Biden.
And it's just frustrating as hell to see the corrupt bast*rds get away with causing all this in the first place.
This would include our worthless media, with its - twisting facts, distorting images, or even using fake ones from movies, one sided reporting, and doing everything it can to cause even more anger and division.
They couldn't report a truthful story if their lives depended on it.

Add to this that it "appears" we have a DOJ that is all talk and no action, no arrests, not one, not even a Hollywood P. O. S., ("It takes time". "It's complicated". ..We know.), plus we have chaos in the streets (although it is Democrat party sponsored misery and people do need to wake up to what they voted for).
Anyway, IMO, you have made a well thought out case for changing the names of the bases, with the possible exception of Lee, who, some claim, was named for a person from the Revolutionary War. If so, this should be explained to people.

If anyone thinks accommodating this insanity won’t quickly lead to demands to remove the names of Washington, Jefferson, and others from everything, as well as demolishing any statue or other monument related to them, they are just fooling themselves. And what do you think the leftists will demand be the new names of these military bases? I guarantee the only acceptable names will be “Obama”, “King”, “Cummings”, etc.
We’ve all talked for years about losing the country, usually with respect to the latest absurdity from the Left, but now we are truly at a crossroads. There is only one choice before us at this point: Either surrender and let the Left finally complete its destruction of the United States, or destroy them (and I don’t mean politically or metaphorically). They are not persuadable or reformable, and just like the Terminator they will never, ever stop. I really think it’s time for an organized effort (not vigilantism), similar to 1776. We need true statesmen as leaders, who also have the guts to do what is right, no matter the cost. And then we need to issue an ultimatum, just as was done with King George, but in this case supporting Trump and any other remaining American patriots in government. Either stop this crap right now, using any means necessary, or we the People will do it, and we won’t be nearly so merciful.

I have no problem with taking the names of every confederate traitor off a base or ship, but not because of the current crap or being forced by communists.
It's a bad idea because it is basically being done at the point of a gun.
Fair enough, but as usual, they’re doing it behind closed doors, without public input as to where such changes would be amenable to the people in the locations.
