Republican senators rebelled against Donald Trump late Wednesday by voting to tell the Army to rename bases named after Confederate generals within the next three years.

The Armed Services Committee, whose members include Trump ultra-loyalist Tom Cotton, voted behind closed doors for the move, Roll Call first reported.

The voice vote was on an amendment to the annual Pentagon policy bill — the Defense Authorization Act — which was put forward by Sen. Elizabeth Warren, the Massachusetts Democrat and former presidential candidate.

It came hours after Donald Trump tweeted furiously that he will “not even consider” renaming Forts Bragg, Hood, Lee and others.

The move puts the Republican senators on a collision course with Trump, who White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany suggested would veto any legislation which renamed the bases. …

Because somehow the historic names of forts is related to George Floyd?

Total insanity and cowardice

Fort Lee is named for a Revolutionary War General.

And CNN TV news reporter Robert Lee is an Asian American. The agitators for the left still tried to get him off the air.

That and Fulbright, Gore, and all Democrats that opposed the Civil Rights Amendment. While we are at it, strike Al Gore Jr’s name as well since he inherited his father’s white guilt.

We definitely need to get some major protests by people who are sitting on the sidelines, scared to death of what is happening.

I know the VCDL is having a protest in Alexandria saturday to protest the city’s attempt to take away gun rights.

See, the forts perpetuated the overall white supremacist racism that indirectly condoned the one cop who would someday put his knee on the one black guy George Floyd who then died in 2020./sarc

And everyone is now a target.

THank you. I personally wouldn’t ask to change the names btw, and I also think naming things after people is off-putting in a republic, where we honor law, not people. But politicians love their names on things, as if they built them.

This is true, but it is more fun to fight on solid ground for basic principles of our republic, than have a fight over some general that none of us care about, or respect, or even think was a very good general in some cases (like Bragg).

I just hope that at some point we see the left start shouting to change the names of all the buildings in DC named after racist democrat politicians.

It is worse than that, Much worse. The Republic can not and will not withstand the combination of traitors and fools hell bent on destroying it.

When they turn their backs on God, they turn their backs on redemption. If we can’t forgive the south, perhaps we shouldn’t forgive the German, or the Japanese, even the English.
