Farid Jalali @farid__jalali My thoughts on #COVID19 Lung Injury, centered around 1) ACUTE thrombotic vascular injury phase due to unopposed ACE, followed by 2) SUBACUTE remodeling due to unopposed ACE2 with progressive DILATATION of pulm capillaries, accounting for prone benefit via perfusion improvement.

I should clarify ACE expression is reduced in LUNG biopsy tissue of chronic asthmatic “human” subjects. Reduces the injurious initial unopposed surge of Ang II. https://jacionline.org/article/S0091-6749(99)70385-4/pdf

AGT II receptors on human platelets
https://ahajournals.org/doi/pdf/10.1161/01.RES.51.3.314
‘We conclude that human platelets possess angiotensin
receptors whose binding characteristics and modulation by dietary sodium resemble the properties
of the receptors on “classical” animal angiotensin target tissues.’

Deaths won't stay at 2000k a day because without mitigation the growth is exponential.

Since about April 3, the growth has been linear, not exponential, because of, as you point out, all the mitigation. Once that mitigation is removed... well... I'm still going to socially distance until I see what the trend turns out to be. I expect, like you do, that it will be exponential again.

Arizona-most offices have been closed for about six weeks. The large office complexes have either gone work from home or only essential workers (like warehouse). All schools closed

Most restaurants, retail, etc, has been closed for about a month.

That said, we have gone from 15 cases on March 15 to just over 8600 yesterday.

Trump and Dr. Birx recent statements confirm everything we already knew.

The next two to four weeks will tell us how bad it will be.

Praying for the Hot Weather to slow things down.

What appears to be a US government document obtained by the New York Times:

https://int.nyt.com/data/documenthelper/6926-mayhhsbriefing/af7319f4a55fd0ce5dc9/optimized/full.pdf#page=1

3,000 deaths per day by June 1?

Dear Uncle Joe,

As Covid19 was ravaging China, you were helping to impeach a President over false charges. It appears that you have not dropped your playbook.

Signed,
Concerned Citizen

A mask with a hole cutout is not a mask. It serves no purpose.

Before they got serious around here, my last trip to grocery store had 4 coughing people in it. Those coughs travel two aisles away. Now they would probably kick your butt out if you were coughing excessively.

“It serves no purpose.”

It depends on your purpose. If your purpose is to get past the sign at the door that says “No entry without mask” then it serves that purpose just fine.

Note how little the “model” resembles actual data up to this point. All but three real world numbers fall outside of the 25%-75% projection, and the majority fall outside the 2.5%-97.5% projection. They could have done better throwing darts blindfolded.
