From an Unhinged Liberal: More deaths from Coronavirus in the US than many wars - and of course that’s with lots of remediation in place. You do realize that’s more Americans (in just 3 months) than were lost in the Vietnam War (58,200), the First World War (53,402), the Korean War (36,574), the 2003 Iraq conflict (4,431) and the Afghanistan misadventure, the longest armed conflict in American history (2,445).

Seriously, selective statistics without context or relationships are MEANINGLESS except to the already credulous. By that I mean the legendary "Low Information Voters" and LEFTists and Democrats, but I just repeated myself 3 times!

Actually, I'd be willing to bet that we have had a net DECREASE in total deaths for this period but at a tremendous FINANCIAL COST. When Gov.Cuomo[?] says he would be satisfied if it just saved one life I'd ask him if he is tracking the long-term costs that can easily have increases in financial ruin and suicides!

Also there is evidence that all respiratory illnesses are being counted as Covid-19 deaths, even without checking to see if they have the virus or not. Plus they are underlying health issues so even if they had Covid-19 it is impossible to know what actually killed many of these people.

Invalid comparison. It has no validity. It all depends on how people choose to count deaths, and assign the count a label. The inclusiveness of the counts, and the labels, are both arbitrary. So no comparison is possible.

People die from all kinds of things. And there is not a single empirical fact that says the numbers would be any fewer if different actions had been taken.
