Exactly. If past is prologue, even if they have their suspicions, they won’t tell the public until it is absolutely too late for it to be hidden any longer.

CHINA, Morse Code and STarTrek

COVER UP China’s censors deleted coronavirus posts written in Morse code or KLINGON criticising country’s response to pandemic

On Monday, Chinese police detained two people who contributed to an online archive of censored articles about the coronavirus outbreak, a friend and a family member of one told Reuters...

...Chen Mei, 27, and Cai, who are old friends, were volunteers with a project called Terminus2049, an open-source archive that keeps records of censored articles from Chinese media on Github, a coding platform.

In recent months, the project has been active in making records of articles on the coronavirus outbreak.

The archive was among those that kept in circulation a profile report on a Wuhan doctor and whistleblower, Ai Fen, which went viral.

People translated the report in various forms including into Braille, Morse code and even Klingon - the fictional Star Trek language - in a defiance of the censors...

Cai was held on charges of “picking quarrels and stirring up trouble”, on a notice from Chaoyang district police in Beijing, Chen Kun said, an accusation often used against political activists in China.

Chen Kun said he did not know what charges, if any, his brother was held on.

A third person, Cai’s girlfriend, surnamed Tang, was held on similar charges, Chen Kun said

Feel good piece:

‘I died and came back’: 12-year-old recovers from virus

Juliet Daly, 12, sits with her parents on the front porch of their family home in Covington, La., Thursday, April 30, 2020. A team of pediatric cardiology specialists found that Juliet had acute fulminant myocarditis (AFM), an uncommon heart condition that tends to present with sudden onset acute heart failure, cardiogenic shock or life-threatening arrhythmias. A nasal swab confirmed that Juliet was also COVID-19 positive and that she had a second viral infection – adenovirus.

clip

“Juliet came in as one of the sickest children we’ve taken care of with COVID-19,” said Kleinmahon. The top chamber of her heart was not working correctly with the bottom chamber, and she was developing “multisystem organ failure,” he said.

Walmart will not deliver to my home either. However they will “ship” items I order on line with normally a 2 day arrival time and free if the order totals 35 bucks.

Produce and fresh milk etc. can only be obtained in the store or by curb side pick up.

I actually tried buying enough to cross their 35-buck threshold, but it didn’t do any good.

Seems weird. Our local store is only about 12 minutes away. And yet they will ship to us. Fed Ex or USPS.

I do have to use different icons for pickup vs shipping. And when I signed up for pickup the first time, I had to send them a request for help in order to activate it.

“You have thing completely bass ackward. What is happen now is destroying the economy.”

No, you simply have no grasp of how either the virus or the economy work.

“The elderly and those at risk CAN WORK FORM HOME.”

How does the head chef work from home? The chief of police? The manager of the bank or the box store? The master plumber or electrician? The construction foreman? There are simply too many jobs that require in-person leadership. Those people can’t work from home.

And the people not working from home may not be at much risk themselves, but what about their families? Are they supposed to separate themselves indefinitely?

INTIMIDATION’ Mayor scraps rule that shoppers must wear a virus masks in stores after employees were verbally abused and threatened

“Many of those with objections cite the mistaken belief the requirement is unconstitutional, and under their theory, one cannot be forced to wear a mask.

And where did these nimrods get their mistaken belief that wearing a mask is unconstitutional? Why from talk radio, right wing blogs, and online conspiracy theory groups (i.e. Q - Trust Sessions - yeah right!).

Yeah, America's answer to the moslem moron Boko Haram group-- PPE Haram. Can't wear masks because muh constitushun. Dey enfrinj on muh rats! ah have muh rats!

Remdesivir is not approved for the treatment of any indication. It says so in the EUA. The term "fast track" also has specific meaning. Remdesivir and many other potential COVID-19 therapies were granted Fast-Track when they submitted their INDs. That allows for faster review times and more ongoing communication with the FDA during the development process. That is separate from this EUA.

As an example of why this distinction is important, the EUA can and will eventually be rescinded. If remdesivir is not yet approved for any indication at that time, it will revert to only being available via clinical trials and compassionate use/expanded access programs.

This same thing happened during H1N1. Peramivir, promising new IV antiviral, not yet approved for any indication, was granted EUA in October of 2009 based on some preliminary data. That order was rescinded in June 2010 because the emergency was deemed over. It then took BioCryst, the makers of peramivir, until December 2014 to gain it's first FDA approval. So yes, I feel it is important to use the correct terminology so as not to be misleading.

-------------------------------- Maybe my OP was misleading. But literally it WAS approved. For emergency use. I didn't state that. Sorry. But, I did post the link with details. But the main point is it is now possible to Rx it outside of a clinical trial. It's important info to feed along. Which is the purpose of this board. I have learned a ton from other docs on here. This thing is novel. The China and Seattle recommendations for treatment were inaccurate. I now have a firm grip on how to manage these very sick patients. And a lot of that has been from interacting with others on this board. Don't underestimate or belittle it. The criticisms and backlash from some on here are unwarranted IMO.

Anecdotally. Yes. Intubating less. At our facility seems to be less mortality. Seems more that die get cardiac involvement now. Most ICU admits from SNFs, dialysis centers, rehabs etc.

“I am a high risk individual on the front lines treating people with covid and have been since it started. No bunker necessaryq. This is not my first rodeo I have been through other epidemics and pandemics”

Well, as I said, kudos to you, if true. But your insouciance is appalling, in an alleged HC worker, especially.

“you fearbros are in denial. mitigation and lockdown do nothing. This thing has been circulating here since at least January long before any if the current charade started. It has peaked and is declining. fl From a healthcare perspective it has been no worse than H1N1 and we did none of this at that time. It is time to stop the economic and social suicide and open up the country.”

You like to project your fear onto those of us that grasp the threat of this virus, but it is simply that - projection.

All those things you say about the virus - that it has peaked, that it is no worse than H1N1 you can say because of the mitigation efforts. It was predicted you would say those things. However, you are factually incorrect. It may have peaked in NYC, but it is ramping up in many places that didn’t see the lesson of NYC or had large Easter gatherings, etc. And, factually, it is already worse than H1N1 by a factor of 5 and H1N1 had 15 months to do its damage, this is still only a few months in. In the first month of H1N1 after the first US death, 10-15 people died in the US. In the first month after the first US death from CCP-19, 3400 people died in the US. H1N1 is NOT worse by any rational measure. We pegged the H1N1 meter quite a while back. We’re now on the H3N2 (2017 flu, along with H1N1) meter and closing in on its maximum fast. Next we’ll have to jump to the Spanish Flu meter and there you FluBros will get some relief - we won’t hit those numbers, thank God (if I am wrong about that I’ll have bigger things to worry about than your ignorance). At the pace we’re going we will have surpassed every other flu but the Spanish Flu within 10 days. With mitigation.

As for the value of mitigation, saying over and over that it didn’t make a difference contrary to the facts on the ground, is simply stupid. Compare Korea and Italy. Aggressive contact tracing and mass testing in Korea with social distancing and lockdowns when deemed necessary, versus ‘Hug a Chinaman’, no social distancing and no lockdown until it was far too late, then massive and total lockdowns in Italy. Which one worked better? I’ll give you a hint: the one where the HCS didn’t collapse and the death rate (regardless of the official statistic for CCP-19 deaths) didn’t jump to 10 to 16 times normal.

Mitigation works, in the sense that it slows the inevitable spread of the virus while we develop and deploy countermeasures. You CCP agents that want to let it loose to do its damage all at once are actively trying to destroy our HCS and the economy with it. I much prefer to keep our HCS as functional as possible and have the economy limp along until we are ready to take on the virus and its sponsors.

3 new cases in Taiwan, all from inbound travelers, all caught at the airport. No risk to the public. First new cases in the past 7 days.

(oh yea, masks are mandatory there)

“These preliminary studies still give me enough confidence to multiply the official number of cases by 20, rather than 10 for an estimate, as I was doing.”

Too much junk in the tests. False positives, picking up other corona virus antibodies, etc.

But 20 is a decent, justifiable high-end number, however I do think it could be much less than that now that testing is more widespread.
