It might have resembled a July 4th gathering - people wearing red, white and blue and waving American flags and signs quoting the Constitution as speakers blasted songs by Lee Greenwood and Bruce Springsteen with "U.S.A." in the titles. But the crowd clustered Saturday outside Minnesota's governor's residence in St. Paul was angry.
About 250 people, few wearing masks and many standing within inches of one another, protested measures Gov. Tim Walz has implemented to limit the spread of COVID-19.
"I believe that the governor, along with so many other governors throughout the nation, has practiced overkill," said W.H. Nieder of Edina, who wore a black-and-white striped prison outfit and held a red flag that paired Minnesota's state seal with communism's hammer and sickle symbol. "This is killing a mosquito with a sledgehammer."
Homemade signs accused Walz of tyranny, communism, dictatorship and cowardice. "You R doing the most damage Walz" read a big painted board on the back of a pickup truck that drove back and forth along Summit Avenue. Other motorists passed waving flags, cheering and leaning on their horns.

The whole argument hinges on one phrase: "If it saves just one life..." The way to counter it is, "If it saves just one life...abortion should be outlawed!"
Actually, no matter what we do, the same number of people will be infected. If we allow the virus to infect people without control, a critical mass of immune people will be created which will make it impossible for the pathogen to spread and many vulnerable people will survive which wouldn't have otherwise. The Swedes are not a stupid people and this is the path they chose. Historically, this is the way it's always been done. Only this generation of leadership decided they know more than the sum total of humanity before them.

As much as we here in Minnesota disagree with Jabba the Walz, we all agree that if Marx Dayton were still the Governor, we’d be in a shooting war.
I’m serious.
In two weeks is the opening weekend of walleye fishing in Minnesota and several hundred thousand anglers will decend on Minnesota lakes. The lakeside resorts, motels, bait shops, marinas, restaurants and bars that cater to these anglers remain closed by the Governor’s order. While public boat ramps and state park campgrounds have been opened, they cannot possibly accomodate the number of fishermen that hit the lakes opening weekend. I expect there to be thousands of agry anglers, resort owners and other small business owners demanding the Governor to open the state or resign.
I must admit I’m not very familiar with either one of them.
I just wanted to get my “The Godfather” quote in because I have no life :)
Speaking of which, I think I’ll go watch it for the 343rd time during this quarantine :)
I never thought I would be dying just to get a frutti di mare dinner and a glass of wine at a nice Italian restaurant...
And couldn’t.
