Feels like being part of a great experiment.

There are some things that can be open, that my husband chooses he will not open, for the sake of his employees. He and I will lose income, but it doesn’t matter because somethings matter more.

https://buffalonews.com/2020/04/19/antibody-tests-began-sunday-including-at-wegmans/

“The first of 3,000 planned statewide antibody tests for Covid-19 announced by Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Sunday began the same day in two local Wegmans supermarkets and around 20 grocery stores in all statewide, according to the state Department of Health...”

3000 doesn’t sound like enough to be useful.

We’ll see if a second wave materializes in the next few weeks. If not, then we’ll continue on as before. We’re also very tired of staying at home. And I’m a natural homebody.

On another note, I picked a quart of fresh wild blackberries Saturday. I did wash those, dried them off and froze them. I’ll use them with some other berry juice and make jelly when other stuff starts producing.

It isn’t.

If the ‘democrat plan’ involves testing everyone in order to ‘open back up, it’s a guaranteed thing that there will never be enough tests to do that.

What a weird situation.

I don’t mind being at home myself as my life hasn’t changed a lot,p (I’m as busy as I’ve ever been), but it’s been hard having DH live in a camper, we miss him, and it’s been hard on my 18 year old missing hanging out with friends

We mainly miss interacting with our elderly inlaws. We call regularly though. And I’m planting extra in the garden just in case food stays squirrely this fall/winter.

We miss my FIL, he is 10 mins away. He does not want to live with us, but has mild dementia and keeps forgetting his meds. We’ve been calling to remind him but it isn’t he,ping. I’m ordering a special medicine dispenser that will alert him. I hope this works. I want hi here, but I respect his independence. His meds are the only catch.

Yes, closing parks is stupid.

Having said that, doesn’t he have an estate somewhere he could train?

We haven’t really done anything different than usual except for 1 trip to Walmart using the “pick up” service. I might need some fresh lettuce in a week or two. And my “spare” oven just quit working today-so will probably wait a bit before calling the repair service.

Oh, by the way, I kept worrying about potatoes not shipping, well they all ended up here. So I have potatoes planted everywhere now, lol.

We haven’t had a perishables run for 2 months now. SO we’ve got one scheduled at SAMS this week. We are going to stock up on some meat given the meat packing plant fiasco right now. Also some fresh cheese and my cabbages finally played out. They lasted 2 months but I’ve got one kind of sad one left. LOL.

This fall I’ll fill a fridge with them, dehydrate them, shred and freeze them. They were a nice thing to have for the past 2 months once the lettuce was done.

we really weren’t ‘eat in restaurant’ people anyways. And haven’t been to a movie since 09ish. We might get a drive thru or sonic type thing though. We’ll see how OUR money goes. And how china shipping high tech stuff goes in the next 2 months.

Are there any major US cities that have closed public transport completely in response to Covid-19?

What experts say about coronavirus in water, and what it means for beach season

[first the bad news]:
Research indicates that other coronavirus strains, such as SARS, can survive 12 days in room temperature tap water, two to three days in room temperature wastewater, and much longer in both at cooler temperatures, according to Dr. Ian Pepper, PhD, director of the University of Arizona Water and Energy Sustainable Technology (WEST) Center...

[now the good news]:
Although infectious droplets may contaminate water and the virus has been detected in wastewater, experts agree that when it gets into large bodies of water — like lakes, rivers and oceans — the concentration of the virus would be so diluted that it would be difficult to contract it.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there’s no evidence that people can become infected through recreational swimming, and “the risk of COVID-19 transmission through water is expected to be low.”
“It is extraordinarily unlikely,” said Dr. William Schaffner, MD, professor of preventive medicine and infectious disease at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

...pools, hot tubs and other chlorinated water sources are not a concern because the chlorine in the water inactivates the virus by disrupting the virus’ outer layer.

1. I hope bromine in hot tubs works as well as chlorine?

2. Probably best not to let the kids splash in still puddles after a rain.

3. You could get panda cooties if you share your beverage.

Yep, Africa is going to be a doozy, unless heat and moisture really does kill this thing.
