In videos posted Thursday night, far-left U.S. Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar push for a seemingly socialist overhaul of the U.S. government in reaction to the coronavirus outbreak.
The first-term progressive Democratic congresswomen, from New York and Minnesota, respectively, call for the removal of a “profit motive” from lawmakers’ decisions and the “nationalization” of the nation’s health care system.
They and other Democrats have been critical of President Trump’s decision to allow the governors and legislatures of the nation’s 50 states, as well as U.S. territories, to largely set their own strategies for reacting to the virus - which has affected regions to varying degrees.

“For some reason we have an enormous problem with enacting the Defense Production Act for saving lives and guaranteeing health care,” Ocasio-Cortez says in her video, referring to the Korean War-era legislation that allows the president to order private companies to produce goods deemed as vital to national interests.

Meanwhile, Omar takes aim at the Trump administration’s policy of promoting state autonomy.
“The states themselves are being put at disadvantage when we have the federal government bidding against them” for medical equipment, Omar argues.

Without profit motive there’s NO WAY to improve health care.
In socialist health care the only motive is cutting costs and the cheapest way to do that (because that’s the only lever you have in socialist medicine) is to not treat patients (EG let them die)
In capitalist health care there’s motive to serve as many customers as possible. That’s why we have the life extension capabilities we had in the US until the socialists started demanding that it was too expensive and “not socially justified”

Would be better to have them volunteer to serve the country, no pay at all, well perhaps a stipend for expenses.
If coronavirus so far has not proven the disastrous effects of centrally-controlled, political, bureaucratic health care, nothing will.
It's hard to believe that there are such anomalies left in the world. The USSR is a distant memory and now we know how NOT-RICH Russia really is.
Communist countries, from Google: China, Cuba, Laos and Vietnam. These communist states often do not claim to have achieved socialism or communism in their countries, but to be building and working toward the establishment of socialism in their countries.
Those aren't exactly dream countries and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar are unbelievably misinformed or just stupid if they believe that those places are models to seek for the USA..
Those two women are really just MISERABLE human beings who want to inflict THEIR unhappiness on their fellow countrymen. They will rant and rave but will fade away after this fall election.
Only the lame-stream media will give them any air time. No one else cares.
We'll see how "devout" they are when they are braying at the moon and no one pays attention.

Maybe AOC and Omar need to look at all the profits the Postal Service and Amtrack are making. Or maybe they can look into Social Security and find out where the money went. Government is a great business. /sarc

She’s segued from center stage – a trivial indulgence who was once vaguely amusing — to being a back-bencher.
She’s nothing but a bad joke in a time where normal people are literally putting themselves at risk to help fellow Americans.
