Front line report from a friend.
This person is a retired nurse that retired to a southern state. She was informed this Sat. that she was to report to her original state for nursing duties. If she failed to comply she would lose her retirement and be arrested.
Since she reported for duty, she has been working 16hr shifts in full hazmat. She said that her hospital is full of dead bodies, that they are being stacked on pallets and loaded on to freezer trucks that are kept running. She is in a city that is getting overflow from NYC.
She said the virus is far worse than we are being told. She said to not go out, or have contact with people for any reason.
(I'm not a medical person, so forgive the errors.)
“How does this PROVE you are verifiable and/or honest????”
Because I would have gotten my ass banned if I was a troublemaker/rabble rouse.
I hope this is not true! Prayers!
Maryland seems to be a little far from NYC.
Thanks for checking.
Mother Abigail hasn't been seen in these parts for over 7 years.
Randall Flagg is still around...
No. Not enough who what when where why and how.
They are doing cancer surgeries, appendectomies, cardiac procedures, but even then there are restrictions. For example, I did a dictation for a patient last night that had a thoracoabdominal aneurysm. There were three surgeons, cardiothoracic and vascular on the case. They wanted to repair the problem in a staged approach which would require 2 trips to the OR. Because of the Covid-19 situation, they were told they had to do the repair in 1 approach. The patient became coagulopathic during the procedure meaning he was bleeding and they couldn’t get his blood to clot. They had to give him massive amounts of clotting products, pack the chest without closing so the patient wound up having to make 2 trips to the OR anyway.
I did another dictation yesterday on a patient who had had a hip replacement the implants were causing an infection. The surgeon stated in the report that because of the Covid-19 situation they would be unable to remove the implants at that time. Instead he cleaned out the infection and placed antibiotic beads in the wound and sent the patient home on antibiotics with instructions to follow up with his orthopedist to schedule removal of the implants.
Well Hey at least they fixed it.
Ill say this again. If your friend is going to NYC, its in her own free will.
That she was threatened with arrest is complete and utter bullshit.
There are literally agency RNs by the plane load going to NYC for pay rates of 90-100 bucks per hour. My sister in law is an APRN and received an email for even more. Plenty of young nurses willing to jump in and make decent cash. Not this one though. Developed viral pneumonia after contracting the flu from a patient years ago. Terribly sick for weeks.
Anyways, great story with a bit of truth just to make it believable. NYC is using temporary morgues.
Shes in Maryland.
We have nurses and other staff LOSING hours as every facility in KY is preparing for a surge and have eliminated elective surgeries and other non essential procedures. There are exceptions as the bigger hospitals in Lexington and Louisville are receiving more COVid patients.
I was told no on getting a lumbar MRI for a probable herniated disc. A problem that can be band aided by a steroid epidural injection by pain management. But without imaging, thats a no go
So the friend is taking care of nyc patients in Maryland. And, said bodies are being stacked like cordwood. In Maryland of all places.
Awesome story
Agreed!
Hello, longtime lurker and just registered on here after seeing your post. Turns out my account is too new to PM you, but can you PM me?
Someone in my family works in healthcare in Maryland. I know my account being new looks suspicious, but I’m being totally legit.
Yeah - I’ll require more than such anecdotal “evidence” before I believe that one...
...and he can’t write a decent ending to a story.
It appears that the ‘bodies stacked on pallets’ turned out to be bogus.
